In quel momento penso soltanto a essere libero, a uscire di prigione e a rivedere Corinne. Solo adesso, ripensandoci, mi domando il perché dell’incoerenza, dell’assurdità, dell’illogicità dei fatti e degli eventi, della reale perdita di contatti con il mondo. Pensare che io ci sono stato soltanto sei giorni, ma ci sono molti ragazzi che là dentro non hanno la stessa fortuna che ho avuto io. La fortuna di avere qualcuno che mi vuole bene e che ha pregato per me, ha trovato per me un avvocato, che ha avviato le pratiche e che, soprattutto, ha mantenuto i contatti con il mondo. L'esagerazione delle catene, come bestie, simboli che ti
fanno sentire un bandito anche se non lo sei. Situazioni che poi ti portano a reagire senza una logica, senza un perché.
Non è una critica al sistema, che bene o male ci garantisce dai veri delinquenti, ma è soltanto una richiesta d’umanità. Non sarei dovuto entrarci in quel circolo vizioso, in quell’iter burocratico. Tuttavia non sono provato dalla decisione dell’arresto, sono provato dalla degenerazione delle vicende. Non ho visto una persona, un avvocato o un responsabile dell'ambasciata che sia venuta a leggermi i miei diritti, a dirmi cosa succedeva. Un completo distacco dal mondo. Una persona in prigione è come se non esistesse. Senza contare che già alla prima
udienza, un interprete avrebbe dovuto essere là, Corinne aveva provveduto a avvertire il tribunale. In fin dei conti abbiamo dovuto pagare l’avvocato due volte.
Oltre la polemica c’è però la gratitudine di essere riuscito, grazie a tutti i personaggi della storia, a liberarmi di una sofferenza insita nella vita e che adesso è svanita. They have taken our hearts under a dark blanket.... here the blanket is a bit the degree of unconsciousness that is bound to disappear, as our consciousness learns to become transparent so it will no longer be possible for us to take our heart.
