EUROVISION qualifiers are done. // LET3
In central/eastern Europe Eurovision is a yearly tradition for families to sit around the TV screen and discuss music as if we are world class music producers. In many ways its similar to the World Cup in football where everyone for a short time becomes a world class football coach.
Eurovision used to give us some pop hits decades ago but lately its more about the performance, the performer, the story, the idea behind the song.
You can see the discrepancy so vividly between the judges and popular vote. One vote based on some quality standards while the people vote simply who they like more.
Its been a while since I stopped seeing Eurovision as an actual musical competition.
Its hard to describe it but its less about the music and more of a celebration of not being a dick to each other.
Eurovision coming from the ashes of WW2 as a unifying event, thats not surprising.
Thats why everything is so shiny, positive, sugary and extravagant.
I can appreciate that and Im someone thats generally a cynical prick.
We need more positive and "happy" events like this where everyone waves their flags, win or lose, there wont be flipped burning cars in street. Its all in good fun and the stakes are low.
CROATIA:
After sucking for the better part of last 10 years. I dont think we even got out of semifinals during that time. This time around are sending something that cant be described. It needs to be listened to.
LET 3 is well known band from Croatia that plays shock rock, punk rock, alternative rock...
Theyre basically trolls.
Croatia being a fairly conservative country, its not hard to troll people here.
Some of their hits:
- "Penis to the forehead."
- "Pussy from Rijeka."
- "Bedazzle me."
And the newest hit song that is entered into Eurovision: "Mama ŠČ."
Apparently its an antiwar song. I saw one youtube comment explaining it well so ill just copy paste it here.
So the first verse goes "Mama kupila traktora", and it actually doesn't literally decode to Lukashenko buying a tractor to Putin, but to Russia "buying"/bribing Belarus and establishing control over Belarus. That's because "kupila" translates to "she bought". Also, беларус (=Belarus) is the best selling model of tractor in Belarus, and this makes the parody more more apparent. This interpretation is important for understanding the second verse "Armageddon nona", which is harder to understand. "Nona" in Croatian means grandmother. So if "mama" = Russia, then "nona" = "Soviet Union". This makes more sense if you consider that Russia "bought" Belarus, and has now transformed itself into new Soviet Union who wants to be an empire (armageddon nona).
Finally the nonsensical spelling of alphabet letters in the middle of the song actually represents unification of (Soviet) states into new Soviet Union, which is now represented with a new symbol "ŠČ". Also "ŠČ" is parody of letter "Z" which you can now see on Russian tanks deployed in Ukraine.
Ive been seeing so many reviews popping up on youtube for this song as it is quite odd and strange. At first glance its just a mock song but it seems that the artistic part, the hidden messages and the whole craziness of it is what peaks the interest of people.
There is one popular music blog "wiwiblogs.com" where the song came in first with 50% of the votes.
If Im being honest, I dont care what place we come in. I just want to see this in the finals and peoples reaction when they come on stage. Should be hilarious.😂
Eurovision is not just a musical competition, but a celebration of unity and positivity that brings people together. Its enduring popularity is a testament to the human need for connection and joy, and a reminder that even in difficult times, we can find moments of happiness and togetherness.

Eurovision is an event where people come and have a lot of fun and forget their worries for a while and put a smile on their face. My best wishes for you too, may you perform very well and entertain people because of you and may you also go ahead and win. Good luck 👍
For this kind of reasons as well as the voting system, my country have not been in the contest since 2012. I don't know whether it is right to do so.
Its just fun and games. Hope you enter again.

Such events should be held, the benefit of this is that if a person is under any tension, he forgets his tension by going to them and has a lot of fun. Here in Pakistan, there were no such events before but now there are many events where people participate in it if they play cricket and many others.
