TO SING, TO FEEL, TO BE •//• LOH #216
Over the years, I’ve often considered myself talentless—or maybe I just haven’t been able to pinpoint what kind of talent I might have. Regardless, there have been countless moments where I’ve wished for certain talents in specific situations: painting, drawing, dancing, creative writing, public speaking, singing—there are so many abilities I’ve admired in others.
If I had the opportunity to choose any talent knowing that I couldn’t receive a reward for it, I would undoubtedly choose to be musically talented. As much as I love the idea of public speaking, I honestly don’t think it’s something I could pour my heart into for the long term without some form of recognition or reward. Music, on the other hand, is entirely different.
I am a big fan of music— it’s my constant companion and something I can never grow tired of. Music is one of my favorite entertainment, but it’s also so much more than that. It brings me back to life when I’m down, pulls me out of the ruts or bad mood I sometimes find myself in and even motivates me to get work done. I love music in its entirety—good lyrics, mesmerizing vocals, and captivating beats. It’s quite therapeutic.
Unfortunately, I am not someone you can call musically gifted. Sure, everyone can technically sing but not everyone can sing well— while I am not terrible at it, singing isn’t the kind that would make anyone willingly sit down and listen to for enjoyment.
There have been so many moments where I’ve wished I had musical talent— to have control over my voice, to hit every note and key effortlessly, to feel fully confident when I sing, and even compose meaningful songs that touch people’s hearts.
Whenever I watch videos of people singing so beautifully that it gives me chills, I can’t help but smile. It’s such a pure form of expression. I want to be able to enjoy myself when I sing—I want to feel the thrill of being completely in the moment while singing, singing my heart out with confidence and precision. I want my voice to be a source of joy for others, to share my emotions in a way words alone cannot capture.
Music, to me, is more than just sound. It’s an experience, a form of therapy, and a way to feel alive. I wouldn’t need a reward to pursue it; the joy it brings to me and others would be enough. If I had the gift of musical talent, I would cherish it—not for fame or fortune, but simply for the love of the art.
Music is life. Singing is joy.

The music is extraordinary and it is a talent that I could enjoy, even if it didn't bring any rewards, just for the pleasure of doing it ☺️
