You've Got a Friend - ThreeTunesTuesday #225
My life has changed in a big way since moving out of what was my home since 1974. I cannot emphasize the value of family and friends enough! Think I've said that before, but it is worth repeating!
Moving to a new area has been cushioned by staying with family while waiting for my new house to be transferred, and that has been my saving grace. Especially good when health issues pop up!
My new friend Crusoe tries his luck, wants to sleep with me, but cannot jump onto the bed, so his Mom allows him to have a short lie-in, but when it's bedtime, he is taken to her bedroom. No sleeping around for this boy ;)
Crusoe likes playing football every night after dinner, even knows how to header and kick his tennis ball. He likes leaving his ball on the couch next to someone, then makes crying noises till you pick it up and throw it across the room so he can chase it. He also teases one by leaving the ball at your feet, and as soon as you move your foot, he grabs the ball. Another favourite is to bury his ball under his blanket. Such a funny doggie ;)
Crusoe has cataracts and will be having them removed soon; he'll need a nurse to watch him afterward, a job I will gladly do for my new little friend when his Mom has to do her chores.
PS. I will share the fairy tale of my cat Poe and his adoptive parents with you soon.
Today is Tuesday, of course, and here on Hive that means ThreeTuneTuesday, or #ttt, an initiative started by @ablaze:
For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday....
The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize...
I'm sharing music by three iconic 1970s female folk singers; Joan Baez, Carole King, and Carly Simon. Joan and Carole still make the odd appearance, while Carly last performed in 2022.
Carole King sings You've Got a Friend, a song she wrote and was originally sung by James Taylor.
Carly Simon's song You're So Vain was released after winning a Grammy in 1971 for Best New Artist of the Year. It still is a mystery whether the song was inspired by her award or by any of her ex-lovers.
Next up is Diamonds and Rust, a song Joan Baez wrote about her relationship with Bob Dylan; diamonds representing the happy early days, and rust their painful breakup.
Bonus track
I could not resist throwing in a golden oldie, Moonlight Serenade, sung by Carly Simon, originally composed and performed by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra.
Folk music was to strengthen and unify people, whether it was through an uprising and rebellion or whether is was through hard work, bringing in crops. But it was to strengthen each other and that's still what music is about today.
