Coming up for Air!
I can breathe!
How do you surface from an ocean flooding your lungs and staying trapped inside your body?
Bronchitis and asthma ain't good bedmates. Nearly a week wasted and my symptoms only got a tiny better, but not all issues were addressed by a new doc; both mine were away. I tried telling myself I'm better, but still had to sleep sitting upright, while listening to the crackling and popping coming from within, and wake up choking.

Sunrise on the horizon from my hospital bed.
Funny how being late for an appointment when doing anything at speed somehow turns into a positive, although it was a terrifying ordeal.
I am super thankful that I'm round the corner from my brother's home, that my dear friend @artywink and her hubby came to stay for the week and enfolded me with love and care.
All strength sapped from my body, I let artywink take over the kitchen.
Super thankful to the staff at the Medical Centre right inside the estate I live in who acted fast and got me straight to an excellent healthcare facility.
I was having a full-blown asthma attack on top of the bronchitis. My throat was tightening more and more, asthma pumps and nebulizing did not help, I could not even talk; my airways were letting me down. The oxygen monitor was spiking a bit lower and my heart doing its jumping trick.
The physiotherapist had to abort treatment and called the doctor in the next room, who in turn called the ambulance. I needed emergency treatment. Everyone was so kind and caring, assuring me I'll be fine.
Once in the hands of the paramedics and being given steroids and more nebulizing, my airwaves started relaxing and I could come up for air.
What a relief!
At the hospital ER I was having multiple more intravenous stuff, bloods were taken, then off to the xray department before being taken to my ward.
View from my little ER cubicle.

My quaint little corner of the four bed ward.

Bacterial bronchitis is the enemy within so I'm having oral and IV antibiotics, cortizone. Chest physio and breathing exercises as well.
I never want to experience that suffocating feeling ever again. Panicking only made it worse!
My heart must be strong because it took quite a beating, but I'll hear the other findings as tests come in.
Why am I sharing this with you?
Not only to say why I disappeared; I was exhausted!
But also to warn all of you, my friends. Do not delay anything to do with your lungs; those with asthma, get it under control or you will cause damage like I have. An enlarged lung is going to need a little TLC.
The positive is that I'm now on an active program of breathing exercises and will resume my walking once I'm able.
Already did a five minute walk around the hospital corridors this morning.

Oh, and the food is very good! I suddenly have an appetite again! Must be getting better.
My faith in our private Healthcare system has once again been restored, touch wood! Don't want to tempt fate now do we. But, this again confirms that I made the right decision by buying almost next to my brother and his wife and inside a facility with good Healthcare facilities!
Finally, as it's Tuesday and time for @ablaze's Three Tune Tuesday, I will leave only one song for #ttt, and old favourite song by Harry Styles.

Oh, my goodness, Lizelle, I'm so...so...so...sorry you had to experience such a frightful time with your asthma attack. Thankfully, you were able to get good care quickly. You're right, lungs need to be taken good care of as well as the heart. Glad you are recovering so well and that fish looks so good, now I want to make some for dinner, lol.
I'm sure your fish will taste even better @sunscape. Thank you very much, yes it was very frightening indeed. Thankfully didn't happen when home alone! I would have panicked even more.
Oh, what a fright… :( but how good to know you’re already out of danger. A hug and wishing a full recovery soon. 🌹
It was terrifying @nanixxx, thankfully getting the right treatment now❤️
I can imagine. One day I had a breathing crisis because of a kick, a glancing blow, from a horse to my ribs, and I almost died. It was very painful.
Little by little, without pushing yourself, you will recover. Have a lovely week!
Gosh that must have been a close call @nanixxx, painful and scary! I realize now I'm going to have to take things slow for quite a while till I've recovered my full strength. A lovely week to you as well sweet lady🌹
You have been manual curated and upvoted by @ecency
Did you know that @stresskiller is also a witness now ?
Thank you so much @stresskiller!
I am so very sorry. Frightening, indeed. My brother had rheumatic fever as a child and a buildup of fluid as a result. The memory of not being able to breathe stayed with him his whole life, even though he recovered. He couldn't tolerate anything covering his face.
You were wise to move in close to family and it sounds like you have access to topnotch medical care. Eat up!! Do your walking. These medicines are as important for you as the nebulizers, antibiotics and cortisone.
I wish you comfort and speedy recovery.
An ordeal like that in childhood for sure stays with one lifelong! Rheumatic fever must have left lasting effects in other ways, or not?
I almost choked to death as a child when food came up while asleep and got stuck. My parents rushed me to hospital and it fortunately dislodged on the way. I have a fear of choking ever since then.
Thank you for your very kind wishes, @agmoore, I for sure will continue the exercises and walking. I've learnt that physio should form part of the treatment as it complements the medication wonderfully.
Yes I'm truly blessed and happy where I bought, they also offer among many other activities aquarobics and exercise classes, and yoga, definitely will begin with the aquarobics once I feel stronger again.
It's so important to be near family as one ages.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Yeas it did. He was lucky to survive and live a long life, but there were consequences.
Sounds like you are in the perfect place. I wish you a recovery trajectory that goes straight up :)
Thank you so much @theinkwell!
Sorry to hear this happened @lizelle, glad you made it out okay! Reading posts like these always makes me subconcious about going for a checkup for myself haha.
Thank you so much @acidyo, I really appreciate the well wishes. Also, please don't delay a thorough checkup and catch the bull by the horn while you're still young. Don't be like most of us who wait for the boogeyman to show it's ugly face, often comes too late when it gets to the point of no return. Nip it in the bud so you can enjoy a healthy life for a long while🤗
I’m glad you’re on the mend! Your experience is a strong reminder of how important it is to take respiratory symptoms seriously. Take care!!
Thank you @gabrielatravels, absolutely true! All I can say, you keep up your outdoor adventures in clean air, for sure is the best kind of activity!
Gentle hug Lizzie and I am glad things are starting to turn around.
It sounds like the move to be nearer your brother and his wife really had become a blessing. Take it easy and get better soon 💙
Thank you so much Ed, I am so glad I listened to my brother and his wife's nagging. They're much younger and much wiser in many ways. I am truly blessed. My sons unfortunately live too far away where I don't have any friends, climate's not so good, and they have their own lives.
One should also listen to that inner voice and not ignore lingering symptoms!
On the mend for sure💜
lol a wife's nagging... Do wives nag 🤣?
Glad to hear you are on the mend Lizzie!
