Music - How a random visit to the park took me to the San Juan Symphony Orchestra concert. / Como una visita aleatoria al parque me llevó hasta el concierto de la Orquesta Sinfónica de San Juan. 😃❤️
There is no doubt that the days I have free from work in the city of San Juan are spent going for long walks in the mountains. In this last month I did a lot more trekking than in all my previous trips combined and I still don't get tired of it, but I also like to do other activities that involve exploring the city. For the afternoons when I only have half a day free, I choose to use my time to go to the center which is only 3 km from the hostel where I am and so far it doesn't bore me either because by chance I always find something interesting to do ❤️.
No hay ninguna duda de que los días que tengo libres de mi trabajo en la ciudad de San Juan los destino a ir a hacer largas caminatas en las montañas. En este último mes hice mucho más trekking que en todos mis viajes anteriores juntos y todavía no me canso de eso, pero también me gusta hacer otras actividades que impliquen recorrer la ciudad. Para las tardes en las que tengo solo medio día libre, elijo usar mi tiempo para ir a la centro que solo queda a 3 km del hostel en donde estoy y hasta ahora tampoco me aburre porque casualmente siempre encuentro algo interesante para hacer ❤️.
On one of my free mornings I decided to go to the city center for a short walk in the park with my coworker. The Parque de Mayo de San Juan is the largest green space in this area and with its more than 10 hectares it represents a good option for a walk at all times. In its surroundings you can find other important buildings of the city, such as the Civic Center for all types of procedures, the legislature, cultural centers, museums and theaters. One of these buildings is also the city's auditorium, which I only approached out of curiosity to find out about the guided tours and with the luck of finding one at that exact moment 😃.
En una de mis mañanas libres decidí ir hasta el centro de la ciudad a dar una pequeña caminata por el parque con mi compañero de trabajo. El Parque de Mayo de San Juan es el espacio verde más grande que hay por esta zona y con sus más de 10 hectáreas representa una buena opción de paseo a toda hora. En sus alrededores se puden encontrar otros edificios importantes de la ciudad, como el Centro Cívico para todo tipos de trámites, la legislatura, centros culturales, museos y teatros. Uno de estos edificios también es el auditorio de la ciudad, al que solo me acerqué por curiosidad para saber sobre las visitas guiadas y con la suerte de encontrar una en ese justo momento 😃.
On the guided tour we were explained a little about the current history of this place. This auditorium, called Juan Victoria, is one of the most important post-earthquake buildings. After the massive destruction that occurred in San Juan in the 1940s, many new and modern buildings were built to reactivate the city. But in the last strong earthquake, detected in just 2021 during the pandemic, this building suffered damage that compromised the structure of its roof. That is why at this moment the building is being renovated to remove the entire ceiling at risk of collapse to rebuild it 😃.
En la visita guiada se nos explicó un poco la historia actual de este lugar. Este auditorio, llamado Juan Victoria, es uno de los edificios más importantes post-terremoto. Después de las destrucciones masivas ocurridas en de San Juan en la década del 40, muchos edificios nuevos y modernos se construyeron para reactivar la ciudad. Pero en el último sismo fuerte, detectado en apenas 2021 durante la pandemia, este edficio sufrió daños que comprometieron la estructura de su techo. Es por eso que en este momento el edificio está siendo refaccionado para retirar todo el cielorraso con riesgo de derrumbe para volver a construirlo 😃.
Fortunately, the auditorium room did not suffer major damage and is still in operation. They told us that this place has capacity for 900 spectators and that all the acoustics are entirely due to the structure of the room. Just at that moment, we were lucky enough to be allowed in to witness the rehearsal of a quartet of musicians. Everything sounded incredible ❤️.
Afortunadamente, lo que es la sala de auditorio no sufrío daños mayores y sigue en funcionamiento. Nos contaron que este lugar cuenta con capacidad para 900 espectadores y que toda la acústica se debe íntegramente a la estructura de la sala. Justo en ese momento, tuvimos la suerte de que nos dejen pasar a presenciar el ensayo de un cuarteto de músicos. Todo sonaba increíble ❤️.
When we left the room and were able to speak with the auditorium guide again, she asked us if we had paid attention to the back wall. I had seen this but I had no idea that this set of pipes was neither more nor less than an organ. This instrument is the "star" of the auditorium and for our good luck again, at the end of the quartet rehearsal, there was a rehearsal with the organ teacher. After waiting a while, we were able to enter the room again to see how the organ worked. I must say that I was fascinated by this instrument because I had never seen one in real life and I couldn't believe the dimensions it had. I was hypnotized by how it worked ❤️.
Cuando salimos de la sala y pudimos volver a hablar con la guía del auditorio, ella nos preguntó si habíamos prestado atención a la pared del fondo. Yo había visto esto pero no tenía idea de que ese conjunto de tubos se trataba ni más ni menos que un órgano. Este instrumento es la "estrella" del auditorio y para nuestra buena suerte nuevamente, al finalizar el ensayo del cuarteto, había un ensayo con el profesor de órgano. Después de esperar un rato, pudimos ingresar de nuevo a la sala a ver cómo funcionaba el órgano. Debo decir que yo me quedé fascinada con este intrumento porque nunca había visto uno en la vida real y no podía creer las dimensiones que manejaba. Me quedé hipnotizada con su funcionamiento ❤️.
For my third stroke of luck/chance that day, the guide invited us to the orchestra's performance the night after that afternoon. This presentation by the orchestra was very special because there was also going to be a performance of an organ piece, and with my fascination I did not hesitate to attend. Because the schedule did not coincide with my partner, I went to the concert alone but this did not matter to me because I definitely had to see that organ in full action 😅.
Para mi tercer golpe de suerte/casualidad ese día, la guía nos invitó a la presentación de la orquesta a realizarse la noche siguiente a esa tarde. Esta presentación de la orquesta era muy especial porque también iba a haber una interpretación de una pieza de órgano, y con mi fascinación no dudé en asistir. Por no coincidir con los horarios con mi compañero, fui sola al concierto pero esto no me importó porque definitivamente tenía que ver a ese órgano en completa acción 😅.
That orchestra night was wonderful and perfect. I had never seen an orchestra of this nature before and the quality of the sound was inexplicable. I felt that the musical pieces of the orchestra and the organ told a story, even though no one was telling anything with words: first everything was calm, then drama and finally the ending. All these emotions represented only by instruments was something magical for me so I was glad I went and discovered this auditorium by chance. Needless to say, I now recommend it to all guests who ask me about interesting activities in the city 😅.
Esa noche de orquesta fue maravillosa y perfecta. Nunca antes había visto una orquesta de esta características y la calidad del sonido fue inexplicable. Sentí que las piezas musicales de la orquesta y el órgano contaban una historia, aunque nadie estuviera relatando nada con palabras: primero todo en calma, luego drama y finalmente desenlace. Todas estas emociones representadas solo por instrumentos fue algo mágico para mí así que me alegré de haber ido y de haber descubierto este auditorio por casualidad. De más está decir que ahora se lo recomiendo a todos los huéspedes que me preguntan actividades interesantes en la ciudad 😅.
I am really enjoying my stay in this province because I feel like I can do everything I like in the free time I have. Although going to the mountains is my favorite activity, going to enjoy the city and its activities is not a bad plan either. Having arrived at the auditorium just when the orchestra was going to perform was something great for me and I'm glad I didn't miss the opportunity to go, because the music that day moved me too much ❤️.
Estoy disfrutando muchísimo mi estadía en esta provincia porque siento que puedo hacer todo lo que me gusta en el tiempo libre que tengo. Si bien ir a la montaña es mi actividad favorita, ir a disfrutar de la ciudad y sus actividades tampoco es un mal plan. Haber llegado al auditorio justo cuando se iba a presentar la orquesta fue algo genial para mí y me alegro de no haber desaprovechado la oportunidad de ir, porque la música ese día me emocionó demasiado ❤️.

WOAAAAAHHHH amiga no puedo creer que todo eso sea un órgano, es INMENSOOOOO, yo tampoco nunca he visto uno en persona, pero jamás había visto en fotografías o videos uno tan grande, de verdad parece una obra de arte ¡QUE BELLEZA! yo también me hubiera quedado, no importa que sola, para poder escuchar esa belleza. Amé tus fotografías, por cierto, ¡que hermosasss!
Así quedé cuando lo ví ese día jajaja. Digo fua a quién se le ocurrió este instrumento? jajaj. Era maravilloso ❤️ y por suerte puede escucharlo en acción, sonaba como iglesia tétrica o película de Drácula jajaja.
Qué lindo auditorio, qué suerte que no haya sufrido daños su estructura por el sismo y su acústica no fuera afectada.

Es verdaderamente espléndido el que todo se haya conjugado para que pudiese ser participe de este concierto y poder darle a tus oídos el placer de escuchar esa orquestas.
Ese órgano definitivamente era muy grande y el simple hecho de poder imaginar cómo se escuchaba en ese auditorio me hace confirmar que este fue una experiencia increíble.

Have you never seen an organ? Here in Italy many churches have an organ, which is regularly played on special occasions such as communions, confirmations, weddings, and on major holidays.
Beautiful photos of the park... in one there is even a rainbow created by the mist from the fountain!
Noo, I had never seen any organ 😶. Then I remembered the Simpsons episode where there is an organ in a church haha. But we don't have that around here.
And the rainbow, it was great. I just captured its essence 😅.
