As a teenager, I used to listen to punk, a lot of punk to be honest, even though my lifestyle wasn't very punk, so to speak. But I believe that what defines being "punk" is the defiant attitude and not allowing oneself to be trampled on, or at least not so much, by the power and authority seeking to crush, especially in a country like Venezuela, where there is a civilian and military dictatorship.

These are the second set of photos I took at a punk concert. Ironically, this band performed at a venue managed by the government, or rather, the dictatorship.

One of their members spoke about counterculture and the "true revolution," right after playing next to one of the most ardent governors of the dictatorship.

This made me think about whether it's a way to "fight" from within, diplomatically and intelligently, or perhaps it was just a product of the euphoria of the moment, and the message evaporates and loses its meaning.

The punk attitude goes beyond the stage, the punk attitude questions with purpose.

De adolescente solía escuchar punk, mucho punk a decir verdad, pese a que mi estilo de vida no era muy punk que digamos, pero creo que lo que hace ser “punk”, es la actitud contestataria y no dejarse pisotear, o al menos no tanto, por el poder y la autoridad que busca aplastar, y más en un país como en Venezuela, donde claramente hay una dictadura civil y militar.

Esta es la segunda tanda de fotos que tomé en un concierto de punk. Lo irónico es que esta banda se presentó en un sitio gestionado por el Gobierno, o mejor dicho, la dictadura.

Uno de sus integrantes hablaba acerca de la contracultura y la “verdadera revolución”, justo después de haber tocado al lado de uno de los gobernadores más acérrimos de la dictadura.

Esto me hizo pensar si realmente es una forma de “luchar” desde dentro, y de manera diplomática, e inteligente, o tal vez fue producto de la euforia del momento, y el mensaje se evapora y pierde su sentido.

La actitud punk sobrepasa las tarimas, la actitud punk cuestiona con sentido.
