Confesso que, assim como em outras obras musicais que já assisti, nem sempre compreendo tudo o que é dito, mas para mim o mais importante é a emoção que me transmite. E assistir a Carmen foi uma experiência inesquecível. Esta Obra de Georges Bizet com o seu enredo intenso, narra não só uma história de amor, mas também de ciúmes e tragédia, centrada em Carmen, uma cigana, e Don José, um soldado apaixonado. A interpretação dos cantores foi muito poderosa especialmente pela artista que interpretava Carmen, que me deixou maravilhada. A produção do espetáculo foi fantástica, com tanto os cenários como os figurinos a transportarem todo o público para uma Espanha do século XIX, e dando vida à história de uma mulher que ama a liberdade e não deseja pertencer a homem algum, razão pela qual ela afirma que prefere morrer a submeter-se ao amor (possessivo) de Don José.

I confess that, as with other musical works I have seen, I do not always understand everything that is said, but for me the most important thing is the emotion it conveys. And watching Carmen was an unforgettable experience.
This work by Georges Bizet, with its intense plot, tells not only a love story, but also one of jealousy and tragedy, centered on Carmen, a gypsy, and Don José, a soldier in love. The singers' interpretation was very powerful, especially the artist who played Carmen, who left me amazed. The production of the show was fantastic, with both the sets and the costumes transporting the entire audience to 19th century Spain, and bringing to life the story of a woman who loves freedom and does not want to belong to any man, which is why she says she would rather die than submit to the (possessive) love of Don José.

Mais do que assistir à ópera, eu acho que o que torna a experiência deslumbrante é todo o ambiente em redor. Imaginem-se olhar para cima e ver o céu de Verona à noite, com as estrelas a brilhar, enquanto o ambiente do coliseu envolve todos os vossos sentidos, é uma atmosfera única. Dentro da música clássica, a ópera “Carmen” é uma das mais emocionantes e poder vivê-la ali naquele espaço é algo que ficará para sempre na minha memória.

More than just watching the opera, I think what makes the experience amazing is the whole atmosphere around it. Imagine looking up and seeing the sky of Verona at night, with the stars shining, while the atmosphere of the Colosseum involves all your senses; it’s a unique atmosphere. Within classical music, the opera “Carmen” is one of the most moving and being able to experience it there in that space is something that will remain in my memory forever.
