You know I'm tired

Today was one of those days when I decided to explore new songs and see if I could add something new to my playlists. I usually listen to one of my playlists on Spotify or YouTube music whenever I'm working on a project or doing a chore and I have different playlists dedicated to different genres; Pop, Afropop, Amapiano, Reggae, classics (songs from the 70s and 80s) and so on. I allowed YouTube to do its thing and recommend songs for me while I skipped any I didn't like.

Before I go on, how do y'all judge a song you will like? For me, I mostly just listen to the first few songs of it and if I can't vibe to it, I immediately skip. That was what happened when a strange song suddenly popped up and it was a slow song, so I decided to skip but the name caught my attention; I'm Tired by Labrinth and Zendaya. "Wait, Zendaya?" That was the first thought that came to my head and I decided to just listen to the whole song. For those that don't know, Zendaya is a Hollywood actress who is famous for her role as MJ in the Spiderman Homecoming movie and apparently, she is also a singer.

She also starred in The Greatest Showman and Dune movies but I guess I shouldn't be surprised that she is also a singer because she actually sang a song in The Greatest Showman (Rewrite The Stars, it's a great song!). I'm Tired turned out to be a great song too, even though it didn't initially pass my vibe-check. I listened to the whole thing and for a second I was actually sad because the lyrics perfectly described my state of self at that moment. I was neck-deep working on a project when that song played, and I had been tinkering with it for over 3 hours.

I recently started working on 2 crowdsourcing platforms this month as a means of earning extra income. I was working with one such platform for the past few months and I just added 2 new ones, making them 3. And then I'm also learning coding and my activities on Hive are also there, although I don't spend much time here these days (based on the recent changes). Essentially, I rotate between 4 different platforms every day, spending hours on them just to make as much income as possible and sometimes I just stop and ask myself; when does it even get better?

I was working on an AI training job on one of those platforms (owned by Microsoft) when the song; I'm Tired started playing. I stopped what I was doing and just stared at my portable Bluetooth speaker as the song played on. At the end of it, I just shook my head and continued working on the task. I guess even YouTube was feeling sorry for me and decided to play a song that perfectly described my current mood because I was seriously tired at that point. I don't even have a social life anymore right now, I'm always working on one project or the other.

I remember how I was working on a task late last night and I was feeling sleepy, so I had to continue working on it while standing just so I could battle with sleep. I hadn't met my target for the day on that particular platform, so I just had to keep going despite being tired. I went to bed late, woke up early today and immediately jumped into work 😪 Those of you living in Nigeria will know how crazy the economy is right now, so the best option is to have multiple streams of income just to stay afloat, either that or you will sink in the flood of debts.

My end goal is actually to be a software engineer but while working on that, I need means to make money and that's where all those crowdsourcing platforms come in. Honestly, it isn't easy to make money in this life and I have already put myself in that mindset right from the start. I guess that's what keeps me going despite how tiring the whole thing is. At least I am done with most of my tasks for today and after I'm done writing this post, I will take a little break before I go work on the last task and practice some coding (it's already 7 PM here).

Well, this is the life I choose and I'm optimistic that it will get better one day. That song by Labrinth and Zendaya (I'm Tired) made me deeply think about the state of my life right now and I would say that I'm proud of what I'm able to achieve every day because not everyone can do the same without getting overwhelmed by all that activities but at least I'm getting by and that's thanks to the good time management system I have, making sure I dedicate specific timeframe to each tasks. Honestly, I'm tired but do I have a choice? I actually do have a choice but the way I see it, the alternative is much worse.
