I just want to sip my alcohol

Christians all over the world celebrated Easter today but for me, it started as just any other Sunday but things started to get interesting later on. I was the only one that went to church today as the rest of my family went to the night service on Easter Eve. The service ended quickly; the duration was much shorter than what it usually is on other Sundays which was fine by me. The rest of the day continued as usual until my mom yelled my name from the sitting room and asked me to get the bottle of wine she kept in the refrigerator.

I quickly grabbed the wine and two glass cups, and after a quick inspection, I realized the wine was alcoholic. My mom didn't even know it was alcoholic but at this point, she didn't mind. I opened it and poured some for her and myself, she drank the whole thing in one gulp! I told her to take it easy or she would regret it and in less than an hour, she was already snoring on the couch 😅. I decided to just take the rest of the wine to my room, where I slowly sipped the wine as I scrolled through TikTok. That was when I started humming the song by Joeboy titled Sip (Alcohol).

It's been a while since I heard that song which was very popular in my country back in 2021/2022. I guess I remembered it because I was sipping alcohol which might indicate that it had been a very long time since I had some alcohol. It's funny how I frequently drank alcohol in the past but as always it takes one very bad experience to ruin the fun in anything. Before that particular incident, I always bragged about my high alcohol tolerance to my friends and I always took the opportunity to prove to them that I could hold my liquor.

The day I went all out was on my matriculation day when I had just been admitted to the university. I was at a party with lots of alcohol flying around and I mixed up to 7 different liquor in one cup, drank the whole thing and still didn't feel light-headed. Until one day when my roommate threw a birthday party and some bottles of liquor remained after the party. We decided to drink it that night and I was lying in bed while he kept refilling my cup. I didn't know how much I had drunk until I wanted to get up to use the toilet.

It felt like I had a full building on my head, and that was when I realized something was wrong. I looked at the big bottle of McDowell next to my bed and realized I had drank over half of it! That was the most I have drunk of any strong liquor in one sitting, within 30 minutes. I threw up several times that night, passed out a few times and had to pass the night on the floor because I was too weak to even move. The hangover that came the next morning felt like a truck was driving on my head. That was the day I vowed to stay away from alcohol.

Since that day, I rarely drank any alcohol anymore. I totally stayed away from any hard liquor as just the smell alone triggers memories of that bad experience. The one I drank was sparkling wine with just 8% alcohol, which is fine and much better than McDowell with over 35% alcohol. I searched for the song Sip (Alcohol) on Spotify and slowly vibed to it as I took regular sips of the wine. It's still a very groovy song after all these years and I will probably forget it (again) after a few days. Well, at least it brought back memories of my worst experience with alcohol and I had a good laugh about the whole thing.

35percent? Wow! You must have been a pro😅. Even 8 percent seems too much for me, I guess I'm not the alcohol type though. I'm glad you brought back this beautiful song to our ears.

I was a pro and later regretted it when I went over my limit 😅 8% isn't so bad, although most beers aren't even up to that amount. thanks for stopping by

You story took me back to the first day I got really drunk😀. I can't be way it actually happened, but all can remember is that drank anything I saw on that day. I drank till I could no longer understand what was going on😀. It was actually after then that I started paying attention to how much percentage before taking any alcohol, and I vouch but to ever mix.
