Falling in love with you

No, not you 😅 that's just the name of the song I will be discussing today. I have heard different versions of the song titled “Can't Help Falling in Love” and the notable one was sung by Andrea Bocelli. He sang it so well that I thought he was the original owner of the song but I just found out today that he isn't. Speaking of Andrea Bocelli, he is a legendary singer and I love some of his songs especially "Time to Say Goodbye" which is my favourite. Anyway, we are not here to discuss Bocelli, let's move on with the song “Can't help falling in love”.

So, the song was originally sung by Elvis Presley and you must have heard it in movies, especially during wedding scenes. I think this is the first Elvis Presley song that I'm listening to and I absolutely enjoyed it. I love songs from the old eras ('60s, '70s and '80s) and I listen to them from time to time. Thanks to streaming platforms like Spotify, I can easily get access to songs by Lionel Richie, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and a host of other legends.

To me, can't Help Falling in Love" is more than just a song, it's a love letter. I mean, what lady wouldn't get swooned with delight after listening to its powerful lyrics? I'm probably overthinking things, a lot of ladies in this generation will rather listen to the likes of Doja Cat and Cardi B. I also listen to their songs but I still have an appreciation for wonderful music when I come across them. I'm sure this song was used a lot in the ‘70s to woo ladies.

Picture this; a stylish man rocking bell-bottom pants and a fitted shirt skillfully playing a guitar as he serenades a beautiful lady sitting across from him as “Can't help falling in love” plays from a nearby stereo 😌🎶. The gentle melody and swooning lyrics paint a picture of a love so powerful, that it will sweep her off her feet. To me, this is how I view love; it's not restricted to grand gestures like what social media has made it to be today. Love resides in simple, tender moments; the shared glances and the silent understanding between two souls.

Love is a journey and not a destination. I think the problem with relationships these days is that many people see love as a fixed endpoint. Imagine a scenario where a man passionately pursues a woman, putting in effort until he wins her over, then he stops trying. He sees it as winning a prize and there's no need to keep trying afterwards. The flowers stop coming, the calls reduce, communication is no longer free-flowing but feels forced, no more stolen kisses, and so on.

There lies the dark side of love; it's not a bed of roses or maybe it is? I mean, roses do come with thorns after all. Anyway, there's a vulnerability in falling in love, seeing as you're giving your heart to another person. It's the kind of risk that can make you excited and terrified at the same time. But like Elvis said, "Wise men say only fools rush in," yet we do it anyway, drawn by an invisible spirit that promises something beautiful waiting on the other side but sometimes, it's not always beautiful.

This song is a subtle reminder that love is a choice; you choose to see the good and forgive the flaws in another person. A choice to nurture the flame even when the wind threatens to put it off. A choice to dance in the rain, to sing along to that silly song, to believe that an ordinary love story can be a masterpiece. As you go through the complexities of romantic relationships either now or later in the future, remember that love is like a delicate harmony that requires nurturing, patience and understanding for it to keep growing. So, take the leap, embrace the vulnerability and don't be afraid to fall into the depths of love.

I really liked reading this. I mean, you portray love the way it should be. I too I'm a true lover of Rhythm and blues. I feel that the world today has bastardised the true concept of love but at least with a song like this, we get to be reminded of what love truly is. Really Nice, Kush. !LUV !PIMP

Today's world now has a warped mentality of what love truly is, I guess we can thank social media for that. Thanks for stopping by Jhymi and for the tokens 😊

Andrea Bocelli - "Time To Say Goodbye". That song usually send shivers down my spine whenever I listen to it, the rhythm, lyrics and voice is just perfect.

"Can't keep falling in love with you" is another beautiful song I love listening to help rekindle the flame of love.

We all need to love and be loved back because that's the only way the world will be a better place

Thanks for sharing this.

Love is a choice truly. A choice to accept someone with his flaws. It's an act that requires deliberateness. It's to love and be loved.
