Bienvenido una vez más al lugar donde abrimos paquetes de Rising, intentamos llegar al Rank #1, coleccionamos cartas legendarias, y al mismo tiempo, escuchamos música nueva :)
Volví a hacer el misiones después de un largo tiempo para poder subir niveles y conseguir starbits para comprar más paquetitos. La vez pasada no pudimos volver al ranking ni conseguir una carta legendaria, pero esta vez será distinto, esperemos.

Welcome back once again to the spot where we crack open Rising packs, shoot for that #1 Rank, stack up legendary cards, and at the same time vibe to some fresh tracks :)
I hopped back on the missions after a long break to grind some levels and stack up starbits so I can grab more packs. Last time we couldn’t climb back into the rankings or pull a legendary card, but this time’s gonna be different, or at least, let’s hope so.

Realmente no fue la mejor apertura que habré hecho en los últimos post, pero al menos es la carta que considero que es la más linda de las que me tocaron. Lo sé, pudo ser mejor, pero es lo que hay muchachos, no todas las veces vamos a tener suerte.
This honestly wasn’t the best pack opening I’ve done in recent posts, but at least I pulled what I think is the nicest-looking card out of the bunch. I know, it could’ve been better, but hey, that’s how it goes. Can’t get lucky every time, guys.

Ahora que volvimos a estar en juego, por supuesto estoy más emocionado para darles una review nueva, esta vez, de un grupo que no había traído con anterioridad, a pesar de ser uno de mis favoritos. ¿Empezamos?
Now that we’re back in the game, I’m definitely hyped to bring you a new review: this time from a group I haven’t covered before, even though they’ve been one of my favorites for a while. Shall we dive in?
Por supuesto, hay consideraciones sobre esta sección y el análisis que se hará para que no sea la típica "este tema me gustó 7/10".
Para analizarlos, escucharé no sólo la canción sino el álbum / single completo de donde esta haya salido. Esto me dará un margen mejor de análisis del artista y de la composición más que pensar solamente en una canción singular sin ningún tipo de conexto. La idea de este tipo de dinámicas es también identificar qué canción es buena para el álbum y cuales no lo son, o si es una canción floja pero no es necesariamente la canción principal del álbum, claramente la tendré en cuenta de una forma distinta.
Se analizará cada canción del álbum / single, y además, le daré un punaje a cada una, finalizando en un puntaje del álbum / single completo. Estos luego irán a un Excel donde tengo mis opiniones musicales formadas.
Sin nada más que decir, comencemos:
Of course, there are considerations about this section and the analysis that will be done so that it is not the typical ‘yeah I like this track 7/10’.
To analyse them, I will listen not only to the song but to the whole album / single from which it came out. This will give me a better scope of analysis of the artist and the composition rather than just thinking about a singular song without any kind of connection. The idea of this kind of dynamic is also to identify which song is good for the album and which are not, or if it is a not so bad song but not necessarily the main song on the album, clearly I will think about it in a different way.
Each song on the album / single will be analysed, and in addition, I will give a score to each song, ending in a score for the whole album / single. These will then go into an Excel where I have my musical opinions formed.

Por fin, es hora de mis chicas.
Creo que nunca les traje una review de Aespa hasta el momento, lo cual, me emociona muchísimo, dado que este es mi grupo favorito de K-pop actualmente. Obviamente compraré este CD.
Aespa es un grupo de de 4 chicas, 2 coreanas, una japonesa y una china. En la imagen pueden verse, desde arriba a bajo y derecha a izquierda: Giselle (pelo largo rubio con boina), Ningning (pelo negro cortito), Karina (pelo largo negro) y mi reina indiscutida, Winter (pelo largo rubio). Para nada hay fanatismo.
Con su auge hace bastante poco hace unos años con su mini álbum "Drama", en el cual han ganado varios premios y consagrándose la mejor banda de K-pop femenino de los últimos tiempos y rompiendo records a diestra y siniestra.
Obviamente esto no fue así desde un principio... o más o menos sí. Aespa siempre fue querida desde su debut, al ser muy fuerte y muy contundente, los fans tardaron muy poco tiempo en encariñarse con las miembros y apoyarlas, por ahí del 2020. Lamentablemente, la pandemia afectó tanto a la banda como a la empresa, y su difusión se volvió mucho menor, y con conceptos que no hacían la diferencia ni destacaban contra las bandas rivales de otras empresas.
Esta mala racha se rompió desde el tercer mini álbum: "My World", pero el pico de popularidad fue en su primer álbum estudio "Armageddon", donde con el comeback del mismo nombre y su side-B, "Supernova" rompieron récords de reproducciones y volvieron a ser lo que alguna vez fueron.
Hoy vamos a analizar la nueva canción: "Rich Man", parte del 6to mini álbum. ¿Empezamos?
Finally, it’s time for my girls.
I don’t think I’ve ever done a proper Aespa review before, which honestly makes me super hyped, ‘cause this is hands down my favorite K-pop group right now. And yeah, of course I’ll be buying this CD, no questions asked.
Aespa is a four-member group: two Korean, one Japanese, and one Chinese. In the picture you can see them top to bottom, right to left: Giselle (long blonde hair with a beret), Ningning (short black hair), Karina (long black hair), and my undisputed queen, Winter (long blonde hair). Totally not biased or anything, right?
They rose to the top just a few years ago with their mini album "Drama," which snagged them multiple awards and pretty much cemented them as one of the strongest girl groups in recent times, breaking records left and right.
Of course, it wasn’t always like that… or maybe it kinda was. From their debut, Aespa had this strong, in-your-face presence, and fans latched onto them fast. Around 2020, people were already hooked on the members and showing them full support. But then the pandemic hit hard, and both the group and the company took a step back. Their promotions slowed down, and their concepts didn’t stand out against rival groups, making it tough to keep the same momentum.
That unlucky streak finally broke with their third mini album, "My World," but the real peak came with their first full studio album, "Armageddon." With the title track comeback of the same name and its B-side "Supernova," they absolutely shattered streaming records and reclaimed their spot at the top, proving they could bounce back stronger than ever.
And now here we are, diving into their newest track: "Rich Man," part of their 6th mini album. Shall we get into it?

Igual que Stray Kids, es imposible que se empiece una canción de Aespa de forma tranquila. Si no te revienta la cabeza al principio con algo, no es una canción de ellas, sinceramente. La canción empieza con una parte hablada: "Ya lo tengo todo, todos demandan por mí". Se introduce bien de entrada de qué va a tratar la canción.
Todo empieza medio caótico en una base con guitarra eléctrica y la voz suave de Winter, para ser interrumpida brutalmente a los pocos segundos por la base principal de la canción. Entonces, escuchamos una parte más rapeada de Karina que duran unos 10 segundos más o menos. Podemos identificar un formato que se repite en algunas canciones de Kpop, y es el estilo: rap corto -> respuesta hablada / cantada de vocalista -> rap corto -> respuesta hablada / cantada de vocalista. En este caso, sucede entre los segundos 20 y 40 de la canción, donde es rap de Karina, respuesta de Winter, rap de Giselle, omitiendo la última respuesta, arranca Ningning a cantar.
La instrumental por ahora no viene dando giros extraordinarios ni locos, aunque podemos ver que se adapta tanto a la parte rapeada como a la parte cantada del primer verso. Y de forma inversa a como vimos recién, se aplica el mismo concepto: parte cantada -> respuesta de una rapera -> parte cantada. En este caso es canto de Ningning, respuesta de Giselle, canto de Winter.
Esto nos sirve más o menos como pre-estribillo, ya que comienza a sonar lo que escuchamos al principio, cantada por las 4 miembros en distintos puntos, para introducirnos de repente al estribillo.
Algo que no estoy muy acostumbrado con Aespa son los estribillos con poco contenido, en este caso, es la instrumental y "La la la la, I am what I am", que no digo que sea malo, pero es... distinto. Repetir esto 4 veces es todo el estribillo completo. Canta una parte cada una, y saltamos al segundo verso.
Este empieza con Ningning con la voz distorsionada, y aplicando lo que vimos al principio del tema: una estructura de canto -> respuesta -> canto -> respuesta. Este segundo verso no innova en nada que no hayamos escuchado ya. O eso pensaba hasta que le presté un poco más de atención.
¿No notan como... distinto el pacing de la canción? Exacto, porque el "pre-estribillo" está sirviendo como estribillo principal. Tiene el mismo ritmo, la misma disposición y organización de palabras habladas, funciona perfecto, solo que con cambiarle el ritmo atrás, se convirtió en algo totalmente distinto. Y por supuesto, ya que abarcamos verso 1 -> estribillo 1 -> verso 2 -> estribillo 2, ahora tiene que venir el puente.
No me equivoqué por supuesto, con Karina y Giselle dándonos este momento rap agresivo con una base instrumental totalmente bajada de tono y bien grave, para resaltar a las chicas, y por supuesto, guiándonos al final de la canción.
El último estribillo es una combinación del primero y del segundo, en términos de lo que se dice y la duración del mismo, sin nada nuevo más que repetir, ahora sí podemos escuchar algo que estamos acostumbrados con Aespa, un cierre de canción lleno de caos, sonidos por todos lados, acción y momentos memorables.
Puntaje: 7/10
Just like with Stray Kids, it’s pretty much impossible for an Aespa track to start off calm. If it doesn’t smack you in the face right away with something wild, then honestly, it doesn’t even feel like an Aespa song. This one kicks off with a spoken line: “I’ve got it all, everyone’s demanding me.” Right from the jump, you already get the vibe of what the song’s gonna be about.
Things start off a little chaotic, an electric guitar riff lays down the base while Winter comes in with her soft voice, only for the whole thing to get wrecked a few seconds later by the track’s main beat. Then Karina jumps in with a short rap, about 10 seconds of attitude, and suddenly we recognize a familiar K-pop structure. It’s that call-and-response style: short rap → vocal reply → short rap → vocal reply. Between the 20 and 40 second mark, it plays out perfectly: Karina raps, Winter answers, then Giselle raps, and before the expected answer, Ningning breaks in singing.
The instrumental so far isn’t doing anything too crazy, it’s not flipping upside down, but you can feel how it adapts depending on who’s delivering. It shifts seamlessly between the rap sections and the vocal lines, and then flips the earlier structure on its head: now it’s singing → rap response → more singing. This time it’s Ningning singing, Giselle replying, and Winter closing it out.
This section basically sets up the pre-chorus, since we start hearing that same line from the beginning, only now sung by all four members at different moments. It builds the hype and suddenly drops us straight into the chorus.
Here’s something I’m not super used to with Aespa: the chorus feels kind of stripped back. It’s mostly instrumental with the line, “La la la la, I am what I am.” Not saying it’s bad, but it definitely feels… different. They repeat this four times and that’s the entire chorus. Each member takes a part, and then boom, we’re on to verse two.
The second verse kicks off with Ningning’s voice slightly distorted, and once again they go back to the same structure: singing → rap response → singing → rap response. At first glance, nothing new. Or at least that’s what I thought until I listened closer.
You notice something off with the pacing? Exactly. That “pre-chorus” section is actually pulling double duty as the main chorus. Same rhythm, same setup, same kind of spoken-to-sung delivery, and it works perfectly. Just by switching the beat behind it, the whole section takes on a new identity. And of course, once we’ve gone verse 1 → chorus 1 → verse 2 → chorus 2, we know what’s coming next: the bridge.
And yep, no surprise there: Karina and Giselle tag-team the bridge with a sharp, aggressive rap, while the instrumental drops into this low, heavy tone that leaves space for their voices to shine. It’s gritty, it’s powerful, and it builds straight into the finale.
The last chorus blends pieces of the first and second, same lines, same structure, stretched out just enough. Nothing brand new, but it leads perfectly into what Aespa does best: a chaotic closing. Layers of sounds everywhere, high energy, nonstop action, and those little moments that make the track stick with you even after it’s done.
Score: 7/10
Ya estaba ansioso de volver a escuchar a Aespa con un comeback, ya que, en mi opinión, los últimos temas no fueron TAN importantes para mí como lo fueron los primeros. Obvio, no tengo nada en contra de la producción y entiendo el tema de tener que estar a la moda, pero es que particularmente a MÍ, no me gusta.
Los temas como Whiplash que pasaron sin pena ni gloria o el mismo tema pasado, Dirty Work tampoco me pareció la gran cosa, y obvio, voy a seguir comprando los CD porque así arranqué mi colección de K-Pop y las voy a seguir hasta el fin, pero me preocupa un poco que cada vez me vaya gustando menos los temas que sacan
Pero bueno, eso será historia para otro momento. Al menos pude apreciar uno de los mejores looks de mi reina:
I’ve been low-key anxious to hear Aespa drop a comeback, ‘cause honestly, in my opinion, their recent tracks just haven’t hit me the way their early stuff did. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against the production, and I get that they gotta stay on trend, but personally, it just hasn’t been my vibe.
Songs like "Whiplash" came and went without leaving much of a mark, and even their last release, "Dirty Work," didn’t really blow me away. Of course, I’m still buying the CDs, once I started my K-Pop collection, I committed, and I’ll ride with them ‘til the end. But yeah, it does worry me a bit that I’m enjoying their new stuff less and less.
Anyway, that’s a rant for another day. At least I got to appreciate one of the best looks from my queen:
