The never known Supergroup

It's been more than 30 years since rock music was still important and had great relevance. Artists were not pop bunnies who sang with computer voices, but stars with guitars, poets, explainers of the world.

We look back in a series. Today it's time for the supergroup Godstars album "Sleeper"

Was a wrong world. Senior Lemonhead Evan Dando on drums, his regular bassist Nic Dalton as frontman on guitars and microphone, plus people from the Hummingbirds, Smudge and Juliana Hatfield as the backing band - and the "fun project" Godstar is ready.

"Sleeper", recorded in August during a break from the Lemonheads' tour, doesn't sound sleepy at all. Between semi-acoustic pieces à la "Forgotten Night" and quick guitar numbers like "Little Bit About", the usual sedate Lemonheads harmonies are omnipresent, but with the help of such genre-untypical instruments as tin whistle and farfisa, Nic Dalton, whose solo project Godstar, actually succeeds are to create exactly those moments of surprise through the constant scraping of the guitars that the current Lemonheads product largely lacks.
