Resulta ser que en plena juventud Nelson Martínez oriundo de Caripito estado Monagas decide mudarse por el boom petrolero a la ciudad de Cabimas en el estado Zulia donde se forjaría como uno de los mejores gaiteros de Venezuela, trayéndonos una cantidad importante de éxitos .

Este Gran compositor nos trajo este tema el cual tiene continuaciones y variantes, como pea santoral, gaiton santoral, los muertos, el gran gaiton.

Estos temas que hacen refencia a que nuestros santos y virgenes en el cielo son gaiteros y toman y beben igual que nosotros los mortales, se brindan pasan su eternidad gaiteando al lado de los gaiteros fallecidos, en ese entonces el mas importante Ricardo Aguirre .
