Sigo de vacaciones y por ende siguen mis recomendaciones de series y películas 🤣, yo les advertí que esto era lo que se vendría con mayor frecuencia porque hay tiempo para ver cosas 🤣🤣, sin embargo ésta serie de la que les vengo a hablar el día de hoy realmente la ví hace algunos meses, pero por alguna razón se me había pasado hablarles de mis impresiones con respecto a ella, así que el día de hoy hablaremos sobre Selena la serie 🎶🎤, que de una vez adelanto que me hizo llorar bastante.
I'm still on holidays and therefore my recommendations of series and movies 🤣, I warned you that this was what would come more often because there is time to see things 🤣🤣, however this series that I'm going to talk about today I actually saw it a few months ago, but for some reason I had forgotten to tell you about my impressions of it, so today we will talk about Selena the series 🎶🎤, which at once I advance that made me cry quite a lot.
Contado a través de 2 temporadas de 9 episodios cada una, ésta serie de Netflix nos narra la historia de la cantante Selena Quintanilla, desde sus inicios en la música cuando era solo una niña, hasta su triste fallecimiento, pasando por cada uno de los momentos de mayor relevancia de la cantante, tanto en el ámbito personal como profesional. La serie arranca cuando Selena era tan solo una niña y apenas estaban formando la banda, que solo estaría conformada por ella, su hermano A.B y su hermana Suzette (cuyo nombre lo pronuncian igual que el mío 🤭🤭), teniendo a su papá como responsable/manager. La infancia de Selena realmente es bastante impactante, teniendo en cuenta que eran una familia que escasos recursos, la serie te hace ver que literalmente cantaban en pequeñas fiestas o reuniones para poder sobrevivir el día a día, pero también te dejan ver que desde el inicio su papá apoyó y estuvo seguro que su pequeña Selena sería grande.
Told through 2 seasons of 9 episodes each, this Netflix series tells the story of the singer Selena Quintanilla, from her beginnings in music when she was just a child, to her sad death, passing through each of the most important moments of the singer, both personally and professionally. The series starts when Selena was just a child and they were just forming the band, which would only consist of her, her brother A.B. and her sister Suzette (whose name is pronounced the same as mine 🤭🤭), with her dad as the manager/manager. Selena's childhood is really quite shocking, considering they were a poor family, the series makes you see that they literally sang in small parties or meetings to survive day to day, but they also let you see that from the beginning her dad was supportive and sure that his little Selena would be great.
Como bien dije la serie me hizo llorar y además me hizo querer escuchar toda la música de Selena, y la razón principal de ello es saber que todo realmente acabó así, pues recordemos que está basada en la vida real, obviamente la serie debe tener algo de ficción, y es que si la analizamos es poco creíble que ellos como hermanos nunca hayan peleado seriamente 🤣, pues todos los que tenemos hermanos sabemos que por mucho que los queramos y nos llevemos bien con ellos siempre puede pasar que alguna tontería te lleve a pelear, así que por allí ya sabemos que algo de ficción sí tiene, sin embargo también sabemos que al tener un familiar directo involucrado en la producción (porque su hermana y su papá formaron parte de la producción de la serie) mucho de lo que cuentan realmente sucedió y eso solo hace que la historia te conmueva aún más. De la trama realmente no creo que haya mucho que decir pues al fin y al cabo uno no opina de la vida de alguien 🤣, pero si me hizo reflexionar varias cosas que pasaron a lo largo de la vida de Selena que posiblemente hicieron que al final su vida terminara de la forma en que lo hizo.
As I said the series made me cry and also made me want to listen to all Selena's music, and the main reason for that is to know that everything really ended up like that, because let's remember that it is based on real life, obviously the series must have some fiction, and if we analyze it is hardly believable that they as brothers have never fought seriously 🤣, because all of us who have siblings know that no matter how much we love them and get along with them it can always happen that some stupid thing leads you to fight, so we already know that it has some fiction, however we also know that having a direct family member involved in the production (because his sister and his dad were part of the production of the series) much of what they say really happened and that only makes the story move you even more. I don't really think there's much to say about the plot because at the end of the day you don't have an opinion on someone's life 🤣, but it did make me reflect on several things that happened throughout Selena's life that possibly made her life end the way it did.
Selena trabajó desde que era una niña, que si lo analizas hasta cierto punto podría considerarse explotación infantil, pero no me quiero detener en eso sino en algo más, la serie nos deja ver que desde niña ella no conoció otra realidad sino la que le mostraron sus padres, para ella su día a día consistía en cantar y eso la alejó incluso de muchas experiencias cotidianas que viven los niños y adolescentes, como no se le permitió conocer otra realidad y además estaba tan sobreprotegida por su papá, lastimosamente eso la hizo una persona sumamente confiada que no era capaz de ver que su "mejor amiga" Yolanda realmente no era la persona más idónea para dejarle tantas responsabilidades, y no hablo desde un tema de amistad porque realmente ellas no eran amigas, pues Yolanda estaba obsesionada y Selena veía amistad en cualquiera, sino más bien a un tema de confiarle tu economía a alguien que a fin de cuentas era una desconocida, y aunque su papá trató de intervenir varias veces, es aquí donde volvemos al punto inicial de la sobreprotección, pues ella estaba intentando ser una persona independiente, volverse la adulta responsable de su vida y justamente eso la llevó a confiar en quien no debía, es que incluso este punto podría darnos para una discusión bastante reflexiva sobre el rol de los padres en el crecimiento de los hijos, pero ese no es el punto de éste post 🤭.
Selena worked since she was a child, which if you analyse it to a certain extent could be considered child exploitation, but I don't want to dwell on that but on something else, the series lets us see that since she was a child she knew no other reality but the one her parents showed her, for her her day to day life consisted of singing and that even distanced her from many daily experiences that children and adolescents live, Since she was not allowed to know any other reality and she was so overprotected by her father, unfortunately this made her an extremely trusting person who was not able to see that her "best friend" Yolanda was not really the best person to leave her with so many responsibilities, and I'm not talking about friendship because they weren't really friends, since Yolanda was obsessed and Selena saw friendship in anyone, but rather about entrusting your finances to someone who was a stranger, and although her father tried to intervene several times, this is where we come back to the initial point of overprotection, because she was trying to be an independent person, to become the adult responsible for her life and that's exactly what led her to trust someone she shouldn't have, and even this point could lead us to a very thoughtful discussion about the role of parents in the growth of their children, but that's not the point of this post 🤭.
Sin embargo, aunque no es el punto de éste post, si es verdad que son estos aspectos reflexivos los que me hacen querer tanto ésta serie, más allá de mostrar una vez más la vida de ésta increíble cantante, creo que la historia también hay que verla con un ojo de reflexión porque sino fácilmente se vuelve una serie más del montón. Personalmente mi temporada favorita fue la primera, y suena hasta gracioso pues a fin de cuentas es la vida de alguien 🤣, pero me refiero más bien a un tema técnico, siento que la primera temporada tiene un mejor ritmo que la segunda, y es que la primera temporada abarca varios años de la vida de Selena y ya cuando arranca la segunda no son tantos los que quedan hasta su fallecimiento, así que el ritmo se vuelve más lento y hasta cierto punto llega a cansarte un poco, o al menos a mi me pasó así, la segunda temporada se centra en temas que quizás no resultan tan interesantes, y que hacen que no se sienta un equilibrio temporal entre ambas temporadas.
However, although it is not the point of this post, it is true that it is these reflective aspects that make me love this series so much, beyond showing once again the life of this incredible singer, I think that the story must also be seen with a reflective eye because otherwise it easily becomes just another series in the pile. Personally my favourite season was the first one, and it sounds funny because at the end of the day it's someone's life 🤣, but I'm referring more to a technical issue, I feel that the first season has a better rhythm than the second, and the first season covers several years of Selena's life and when the second season starts, there are not so many years left until her death, The second season focuses on themes that are perhaps not so interesting, and that make you feel that there is no temporal balance between the two seasons.
Los actores hacen un trabajo increíble, desde las versiones infantiles hasta las adultas, la actriz que caracteriza a Selena lo hace fenomenal y siento que físicamente fue un acierto total, igual que quien hace de su pareja, que hablando de él, me da mucho sentimiento como acabó su historia con Selena 🥺 revisé su Instagram y todavía coloca fotos de ella, se me hace que realmente él la quería muchísimo y de alguna forma se la quitaron cuando apenas empezaban a construir un hogar 🥺🥺. Obviamente el apartado musical es increíble, no tocan todas las canciones de ella pero si nos muestran el proceso de sus grandes hits, y me encanta que en ningún momento se sataniza el hecho de que no era ella quien componía sus canciones, porque a veces siento que a eso se le suele como ver mal o cierta gente no termina de entender que no todos los que cantan bien saben componer y no todos los que componen saben cantar 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️, y es tan importante la musica así como la narración de su vida, que llegue a descubrir canciones que me han gustado desde hace mucho y que no tenía ni idea que eran de ella 🤣🤣.
The actors do an amazing job, from the child to the adult versions, the actress who plays Selena does a phenomenal job and I feel that physically she was a total success, as well as the one who plays her partner, and speaking of him, I feel very sorry for how his story with Selena ended 🥺 I checked his Instagram and he still posts pictures of her, it seems to me that he really loved her very much and somehow she was taken away from him when they were just starting to build a home 🥺🥺🥺. Obviously the music section is amazing, they don't play all her songs but they do show us the process of her greatest hits, and I love that at no point is the fact that she wasn't the one who wrote her songs demonised, because sometimes I feel that this is often seen as wrong or some people don't understand that not everyone who sings well knows how to compose and not everyone who composes knows how to sing 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️, and it is so important the music as well as the narration of her life, that I got to discover songs that I have liked for a long time and that I had no idea that they were hers 🤣🤣.

Obviamente hay que tener en cuenta que la serie no debe contar todo al pie de la letra, pero si nos da una aproximación y de verdad que vale la pena verla y disfrutar las canciones mientras van saliendo ✨. Saludos! 💕
Hola. Te cuento que cuando leí que el papá y la hermana estaban involucrados en la producción ya me imaginé lo fresa que podría ser, eso de mostrar solo lo bueno y lo único malo que le pasó a Selena fue con Yolanda. Cómo dices es imposible que los hermanos no peleen, pero la familia no quiere quedar mal.
Cómo te puedes dar cuenta no la he visto pero si ví la película con JL y también ví La serie "El Secreto de Selena" basada en el libro de investigación de la periodista María Celeste Arrarás. Aunque el final es el mismo porque la realidad no se puede cambiar, hay muchas cosas interesantes.
Te la recomiendo, ahora que estás de vacaciones y tienes tiempo y están entusiasmada con la vida de esta artista.
Mira que no sabia que había una serie basada en una investigación 🤔🤔, seria interesante verla y comparar lo que muestran en la serie de Netflix. Gracias por esa recomendación, la tendré en cuenta 💕

Está serie la vi y me encantó, Selena Quintanilla fue una cantante muy querida mundialmente, es un papel difícil de defender por cualquier actriz, pues nunca o casi siempre las personas van a estar conformes.
Ese mismo cariño que se le tiene a la cantante es el que puede o impulsar o aplastar el trabajo de quién la interprete en series o películas, a mi parecer el trabajo de ésta actriz fue impresionante ✨. Saludos y gracias por comentar 💕.

De verdad que te la recomiendo, igual como mencioné hay que tener presente que la serie tiene su toque de ficción, pero al menos te da una aproximación de lo que pasó y de cómo pudo ser su vida. Gracias por comentar 💕
