We wish to go back to the 90s

The truth is that people who were born in the 80s and 90s always wish to feel again what life was like during those times when compared to how life is now because it appears that life was better in those days than it is now, and that is very true. I am among those born in the 90s, and I had a better life back then compared to this era that we are currently in.

I have this elderly man in his 80s who's a neighbour in my workplace, anytime we have conversations about life, he always likes to throw me back to how life was sweet for them in their early days. These are the people who bought lands with just 1naira. Some of them even acquired lands for free by clearing the forest. This man always tells me how they don't buy fish or meat for their food because their traps in the backyard of their house always give them bush meat.
Oh yeah, I experienced a good part of that life too because I was born in the 90s.

Do you know how beautiful life was before this era?

Some time ago I made a post on how we enjoyed good music and I had people who couldn't just get enough of how entertaining music was in those days. Back then, only good music was the one that made it to the limelight, there was nothing like using digital means to push and force it into the ears of people. Although they were marketers back then, they pushed music to the public but only the good ones came out. Talking about the albums of P-Square, Omg! Those albums sold out effortlessly. But now, the music digital flow and means of forcing people to listen to songs have spoiled the fun. It's so hard to separate well-crafted works from the shallow ones.

Should I talk about how we had a good family bonding in those days compared to now?

Although back then, things were very tough for us as a family, we bonded very well during those moments. We would go to the farm, work until our bodies were worn out, and even in the midst of that, we cracked jokes with our siblings and parents while doing those jobs on the farm. Dad was always the chef, and eating together from the pot and mortar was simply unbeatable. Back then, the thought of the delicious “poor-rated” food we were going to enjoy at the farm would make us eager to go.

The bonding never stopped. Whenever we returned home and were done with dinner and chores, the family would gather to watch movies either on VCD or on the antenna-powered television. There were no phones to distract us. Even when we had phones back then, the distraction was very minimal, and that was because the phones of those days were not as advanced as the ones we have now.

But now, it is rare to see a complete family seated together and watching movies. The last time I went home, I tried to stay put and watch movies with my mom and other siblings, but it was not interesting at all. Lol

Thanks for reading.

“We”?
Please use personal pronoun😂
You just reminded me of how I hated eating with my brothers. I still do😂.

I miss those days bro. Life was simpler and better then. There was more genuine human relationships between family and friends, more concern and humanity. Distractions have taken over a lot us today. The quest for excellence, morality and a lot has dropped drastically. Well...

There’s no arguing that life then was simple and interesting but today, things have changed, too because technology has made life easier for us compared to the past where we do many things manually.
Those days were beautiful 🤩

Who’s we?🤣🤣🤣
Please speak for yourself. I saw those old days you mentioned too but I’d rather stick with these good recent times. Every era has it good and bad but forward ever is always better😂
