Tuesday, a Lightful Day
Today, something we haven't experienced in a long time occurred — electricity. For some weeks now, we've been having electricity at least once every three days, but it only comes at night and never during the daytime. On those nights whenever electricity comes, I usually stay awake to utilise it because it's so unusual for me to sleep comfortably when I know that I have a lot of work to attend to whenever there's light.
So, this has been the routine until today, Tuesday, when light came as early as 6 a.m. I quickly rushed to utilise it, thinking it would be ceased in no distant time as it has always been. But today's own was a shocker — the light stayed till 2 p.m., and that was very unusual. I can't even remember the last time we had electricity during the day.
The electricity we've been getting recently has been mainly for home use and not for business owners who rely on it because, by the time it comes at night, workshops have closed, and the light is always useless to businesses that need electricity to operate.
So today, I really took full advantage of it. I attended to a lot of work, and at some point, I wished I had the power to complete all the work at once just to make the most out of the electricity.
Normally, I make sure I publish my articles in the morning or, at most, in the afternoon. But today, I allowed the day to take its full course. I suspended every online task and focused on reality, and I felt good too because the work I covered today would have cost me a good amount of money if I had to buy fuel to power my generator.
In the midst of working with full electricity, I had music playing in the background, and below are some of the tracks that kept me fueled. I’m also using them as my entry for Three Tune Tuesday for the week:
Wap Up by Wizkid and D’Prince
https://youtu.be/ICN1o4sV0Eg?si=ux0-__hAwKJuVqAR
This song, released in 2010 in Wizkid’s first album, is one of my favourites from the project, and I play it often. It reminds me of the good old days, especially when the album was first released — how we used to play it repeatedly on loud volume on the music system in our house.
Bout You by Rema
https://youtu.be/sqeGiNrLtlI?si=Iid6S23jxO4NVPz0
This is one of my recent additions to my music playlist. “Something About You,” as it's properly pronounced, is a song by Rema — a love song with a good rhythm and nice lyrics too. It makes someone want to fall in love if they're not already or makes someone miss a loved one so badly.
Powers by Odumeje and Flavour
https://youtu.be/kspxK5k29Sg?si=HYS4CH27vnmbGzSb
This song, even though it has faded off — or let me say, trended off so quickly — is one I still enjoy because of the way it was done and the hype it brought when it was first released. The clergyman, Odumeje, always has his unique way of creating music, and this track was no exception.
Thanks for reading.
