My kinda song

Greetings!

I have questioned myself many times about whether I have a favorite song, but hell no, I don't have a favorite song. It just can't be. I have many artists whose craft in music I deeply admire, and it’s hard to settle on one particular track as a favorite from any one of them, not to mention picking a single song from all the numerous music artists I like. Besides, it’s not only about the artists I favour. I also enjoy beautiful songs from artists who aren’t on my list of favorites. A typical example of this is how much I love the "Issa Goal" song used to cheer up the Super Eagles during the 2018 World Cup. The main owner of the song, Naira Marley, is an artist I’m not particularly fond of, but I just love the song. That’s how I approach my music preferences.

Going further, without any shyness or shame, I’ll admit I’m a big fan of the type of music we have in Africa, commonly and popularly known as Afrobeats. Yes, songs from this genre are my favorite, but I can’t settle on just one track as my main favorite. Come on, it’s not possible; I can’t even think of it.

Afrobeats and I relate very well, but this doesn’t mean I don’t listen to other genres. I do, but on a very minimal level.

How does this kind of music make me feel?

I remember, about two years ago, I had a friend who didn’t relate to music. Each time she called me on the phone, music was always playing in the background, and she frowned a lot about that. For me, this kind of music keeps my heart light, makes my mouth sing—though not audibly—and keeps my inner man dancing. Sometimes, this dance even makes its way to the physical with the shaking of my head or other small movements. In a nutshell, this kind of music keeps me in a good mood, which is why music is always playing around me.

Also, there’s something special about this kind of music. The old ones have a way of tingling the heart and bringing back a lot of memories whenever they come on. This is why, every Thursday, I make sure to listen to random old songs to follow the culture of Throwback Thursday. The sweetest way I do this is by tuning in to a radio station where they play random old tracks. Today, being Thursday, was no exception. I heard a track today, and before I knew it, I was on YouTube reliving the video of the song. I was even more excited when I saw some sweet recent comments from people who knew the song when it was released. Do you want to know the song? It’s Terry G’s Free Madness.
Oh yeah, you can go ahead and call it a nonsense song, especially considering the title and the artist, but that song was a big flex when it was trending.

Listening to a song over and over again

Yes, I’m a big fan of this. I do it often, especially when a song is newly released, or I just want to feel it more deeply. I listen to it repeatedly until I’m tired, then I add it to my random song collection.

Thanks for reading.

You are truly right Kingsley. Having a favorite song 🎵 is something very hard because we have lots of beautiful artists 👩‍🎨.

But definitely, there must be that one music I love 💕 to play from time to time.

Happy new year with lots of abundance 🎆🎉🥂

Well, I just promise myself not to let at least more than a week pass without posting. I think that would be better than not posting for months. Sometimes I feel discouraged when my post don't get any attention especially readers it can be demoralizing.
