My Kinda Song

Greetings!

I’ve been thinking about the kind of music to be played at own organised party like my wedding. I doubt I’m the only one who frowns at some of the music DJs play at parties. I remember attending some weddings where, during the couple's entrance, the DJ ruined the moment with unfitting music, making it hard for the couple to dance along. You've seen such occurrence, right?

At one particular wedding, the couple told the DJ to select any fitting song, and when the time came, he picked a typical popular wedding intro song, but the couple still complained and I was like, why didn't the couple give the DJ a particular track???

As for me, I will have specific tracks that the DJ must play at particular moments during my event. I know MUSIC, and I have my preferences. There’s no way the DJ will spoil my mood with his choices. No way!

There’s this particular song I’ve loved since I was in secondary school. Not everyone knows it because the artist, although very popular nowadays, wasn’t well-known during his music career. I love the song because it’s my kind of music, and its title is “My Kinda Song.”

The songwriter emphasizes how he likes the DJ to play the kind of music he enjoys at parties. You know, there’s a special sweet feeling it brings when a song that you like start playing, and before you know it, you start dancing without realizing it. I experience this a lot. Many times, while watching live performances of my favorite artists, when they play the songs I love, I can’t contain myself. I shout and scream, hailing the song and the artist.

I remember one time when I was playing music with my phone connected to the sound system in the living room. When it got to a track I didn’t want to hear, I clicked next. Surprisingly, the next track was a native song. As it started playing, I clicked next again, but my dad screamed from his room, “Leave that song!” My dad doesn’t joke with his kind of music. That's it. I left the track to play for him.

You know why I chose “My Kinda Song” as my kind of song? It came out when one of my favorite music crews, Mo'hits, was blazing hot. In this song, Tunde Ednut, the songwriter, mimicked D'banj and Wande Coal with a verse, which was a big respect, acknowledging the music giants.

Another part that hooked me to the song is where he talked about earning a living and loving a girl by being both a musician and a comedian at the same time.
Yes, Tunde Ednut was once into stand-up comedy. He ventured into music, and although neither career worked hugely for him, he eventually became a big blogger, influencer, and more. He is big today and well known in Nigeria. I really wish to meet someone that knows this song here.

Thanks for reading.
