Good old days
Yesterday, I had a good time reminiscing about the experiences of 2019, and it was all fun and sweet. There was a time we were returning from school (actually, that’s where we worked as NYSC staff), and we heard a boy singing aloud:
Cause my papa no be Dangote or Adeleke
But I go dey okay eeh
I go slap agbero for your case.
Then one of us chipped in and said, “Look at this one that hasn’t even eaten, yet he’s saying he wants to slap someone!”
We all burst into laughter, and the boy, feeling embarrassed, shamefully stopped singing. His sudden silence got us laughing even more because my guy’s words really touched him.

So, anytime I come across this song, that exact scenario always plays in my head.
Teni crafted this song so well — the lyrics are so relatable, easy to sing, and it’s one of her biggest hits in her music career. I love the song so much; it’s unique, and the video was beautifully crafted too.
Have you heard about the reimagined version of Adamma by Flavour and The Cavemen?

In my part of the world, Flavour’s songs used to trend massively, and they still do — maybe because my language is a bit familiar with the Igbo language. When Flavour entered the music industry 15 years ago, one of the songs that shot him into the limelight was Adamma, and that song used to be a party anthem at wedding ceremonies.
After 15 years, Flavour decided to reimagine the song, and he did it in a live session with The Cavemen. It’s so ear-tingling and entertaining to behold. I even saw a comment from a lover of the song saying he’s going to use it for his wedding intro next year, and honestly, that’s so lovely. I really love the craft put into this reimagined version.
Is it only me that feels like people who didn’t know the songs and music that trended back in 2010 to 2015 missed out on a lot? Mehn, those songs, whenever you come across them now, hit differently on another level.
I recently came across FAMILIARITY by Jayru and Wizkid, and I couldn’t stop singing the sweet parts I remember:

“I’m not a small boy, I’ve been singing since…”
Good memories!
This song, though not very popular, was one of the tracks we blasted repeatedly on our small Java phones when we had just started using mobile phones.
Wizkid was very special on this track, absolutely nailing the chorus and his verse.
That’s all — that’s my entry for the #ttt for the week.
Thanks for reading.
