A Thursday without Throwback songs? It can't be!
Greetings!
There are songs, especially throwback songs, where the lyrics might not be the best, but as soon as the intro plays, you can’t help but start singing before the verse even begins. I’m sure many of us can relate to this, except perhaps those who aren’t music lovers.
It was Thursday evening, and my radio was on because, hey, I love listening to the radio every day, especially on Thursdays because of the random throwback songs. Then, I heard the intro of a once 'mad hit'—"Carolina" by Saucekid and Davido. The intro is so enchanting that I didn’t even realize when I started murmuring the chorus, even before it actually began. The intro features piano work that’s twisted in a unique way that you rarely hear in other songs.
You know, there are some songs where you don’t know the lyrics, but the rhythm is 100% installed in your head. Yeah, that’s what this song is to me. I don’t know the lyrics at all, but the sound of the rhythm is just deeply embedded in me, and I’ve been murmuring this chorus ever since I first heard the song, and it’s still happening today.
Like I’ve said here multiple times, I’m a very big fan of old songs. Music becomes sweeter and more interesting as it ages. So, bumping into this song today made me feel like I was back in the days when I was a 'baby.' It’s a song that wasn’t a massive hit when it was released, but those who know good music know this track. I’m referring to Nigeria and Africa. I give accolades to anyone who recognizes this song whenever I come across them because it shows that the person is really into music. Now, I’m scared to tag this lady(@balikis95) because she’ll probably tell me the history of the song and say she can sing it from A to Z. That’s one person I respect a lot when it comes to old music.
Now, the other artist in this song is Davido. This is the same Davido who’s currently doing big things in the African music industry, and I knew him back when he started his music career. This song, even though he was featured, is one of those tracks where he worked his 'magic.' As you can see in the video, he’s very young, and I’m sure if he were to watch this video today, he would laugh so hard.
Like I said, the lyrics aren’t particularly deep; it’s just the usual way of appreciating a lady’s beauty and how the affection is pulling strings in the songwriter’s head. It’s not exactly a party song, but it can be danced to at a party, depending on the mood of the person vibing to it.
That’s my song for Thursday’s groove. I’ve added it to my playlist, and I’m going to play it repeatedly until the artists start feeling a headache and come begging me to pause it for a while. Lol.
Thank you for reading.
It's a very cool trap song.
Please, vote for the Ecency Proposal.
Thank you always 🙌
Voted already 🙌
Great! Each vote count! 👍
Davido's young face got me laughing so hard. I almost forgot how he grew in the music industry.
This is a nice throw back song. I've almost forgotten it. Nice one.
Wait up, you mean @balikis95 can sing old tunes from A to Z? I better seek her out for some coaching 😂
Lol... payment forward before the seeking M'lady
Alright ma'am
Yeahhh.
Some many peeps of these days don't know that Davido started very young and he was 'beast' already even in that early age.
Balikis, that's one of the few ladies I raise my hands up for, when it comes to throwback naija songs.
😂😂😂, ok
Hehe, thankfully, I can tell you the history of the song. The moment I saw the name of the song, I just smiled. Hehe. Well done.
Just know that one of these days, you won't be able to escape recording all the songs we've talked about. Yeah, I mean it.
I'm keeping count.
🤣🤣🤣 yes Sir 👀
Keep thinking I'm joking
You completely right @kingsleyy. The most funny thing is that sometimes we go ahead to sing these songs even when the lyrics are not well known to us. They have a way of compelling us to sing...
Hahahah!😂
That's just it bro.
That's music for us
Music is indeed powerful
I haven't heard it before... Thanks for the recommendation. Nice post, though 🫶🏻
Okayy.
You're welcome
