ABBA - Gimme Gimme Gimme (Bass Cover)

Here's a cover of 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' by ABBA, it's a pretty enjoyable one to play and when we do crack this one out while playing a gig, people seem to enjoy it and it gets a pretty good response.

Originally we were learning 'Dancing Queen' but we could seem to get it, so rather than spend weeks on a song that may or may not turn out well, we just moved on to this one and surprisingly enough we were able to get it pretty quick, even though it was pretty tough. I never usually play the way this song requires, but in saying that, it's usually a good thing to get out of your comfort zone, as it is a sure way of opening yourself up to new styles to play around with.

If you have any ideas or requests for songs to learn, don't hesitate to let me know, even if we don't end up performing them with the cover band, I enjoy trying to learn some new stuff and I like to get some ideas of songs that may not have been on my radar.

Recording My Practices

I've been really enjoying this, and I like being able to share some of the songs I've been learning, this isn't something I've done before; while I have streamed games and stuff in the past, I'd really like to stream some playing, as I think it would be a lot of fun, and I think turning my practices into a live performance would be pretty cool, and a good way to keep the pressure up, so to speak, that way there are no second chances and I'd become a lot tighter with some of the music I've been learning over the past while.

Recently my partner's brother mentioned a cable he got when he wanted to do something similar, it's an aux to usb which I can plug my bass into and use it as an interface, however, I don't have a DAW, but I think I might be able to use some filters in OBS to get a nice sound, and with that, I'll be able to do a bit of streaming. I'm thinking of doing something on VIMM, and Twitch, maybe even YouTube. I know there's a premium version of OBS that allows your one stream to go out on multiple platforms at the same time, I think that would be a decent way of getting a following on each platform, without having to do 3 different streams.

To be honest, the way things are I don't have a lot of time for much else, but I do try to get an hour in every few days to run over the set, and streaming it is a way for me to get the practices in, while also getting back into streaming.
