Our First Jam In About A Year
Okay, so this was kind of an unexpected day. A few days ago we organised a day together to have a jam, in preparation for the launch of our second album - which should be around the end of May.
We have about 2 and a half months to get ready, considering it has been so long that we all played together.
Four of us about mid-way through the jam.
It was such a good jam, and was a great chance to blow the cobwebs off.
We played basically everything we ever wrote in one session, and if I'm being honest, it was really good. Some songs sounded better than they ever did, and some were ropey, but we had the basics down.
Some of the tunes, I hadn't played in about 2-3 years. A bunch of songs of our first album have not been played live in a long time, and even those ones went really well.
Danny, our original drummer came back, and even played drums for a song or two, even though it had been about 3 years since he picked up sticks. For this session, he decided to play rhythm guitar and it sounded really good.
The music sounded much fuller because of it, and it freed up my dad to noodle around with his solos, without the music dropping.
It was hard at the beginning, to get into the zone. I think we were all a bit awkward without having Dave with us for it, but he was certainly there in spirit.
During the songs we all took turns singing his lyrics, and actually had a good laugh doing so, while throwing around jokes and stories between songs.
We forgot to bring mic stands though, so the lyrics were barely audible as we tried to sing over the music.
Another day is set for next week, and hopefully with that session we can really nail down some of these songs and a potential setlist.

These are treasure moments when you are in a band. Sometimes I kinda miss playing with other people just for fun
Just playing with others is something special. I need to do more of it really. Looks like you are getting back into it now.
Great!!! Nothing better than a jam to reconnect with old musicians friends!!
