Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock - TTT

avatar

I was floating through the Facebook Marketplace the other day, and I saw a listing for a PS2, 2 controllers, about 12 games, and a Guitar Hero, Guitar and Dongle.

Seeing as it was €50 I wanted to jump on it, but I sent a screenshot to the boss first, to ask her permission.

She replied saying, "I want to play Guitar Hero." That was all I needed to hear.

It has been a long time since playing Guitar Hero, and I'm actually really looking forward to receiving this, so we can have a go of it.

It's a really good party game, and has a really good soundtrack.

Even Flow - Pearl Jam

Playing Guitar Hero back in the day, was my first introduction to a lot of good bands, and songs.

One of which was this one. I'd never actually listened to Pearl Jam before playing this game, and this one always stuck out as one of my favourite songs to try and 100% on it, due to how challenging it is, but also just how cool of a song it is.

I always liked the kind of aethereal riff for the chorus of the song.

There have been a few guitar hero games out since this one released, but I think 3 definitely had one of the best soundtracks of all of the games.

Bulls on Parade - Rage Against The Machine

I always liked Rage Against The Machine, and knew them before playing this game, but this is another song that stuck out as a favourite of mine to have a go of.

Guitar Hero used to be so much craic, and it was cool to have a game you could play with a room full of people, which everyone could enjoy even when it wasn't their turn.

The guy didn't want to post it, but luckily a mate of mine works up near where he lives, so I asked if it would be possible if he could pick the parcel up for me, and he agreed.

I'll be getting it Thursday evening, but won't be back to Aimee's until Saturday evening, so will have to wait a couple of days before giving it a whirl.

Suck My Kiss - Red Hot Chili Peppers

This is another great song that I liked to play on it, and while I listened to the Chili's before picking the game up, I didn't know many of their songs, and had never heard this one prior to playing it.

I wonder how many people out there have had their taste in music shaped by Guitar Hero 3, alone. Back when it released I'm fairly sure everyone had played it, even if they didn't own a console. Usually seeing the Guitar in someone's bedroom, would prompt the question, "does that have batteries?"

The main reason I wanted to pick this bundle up, is for the PS2 controller, because at the moment, they cost about €20 in the shop, or online, but this way I get two of them, and for just an extra €10 I get the entire bundle, which is unbelievable.

Besides Guitar Hero, a few of the games I'm also looking forward to playing are, Canis Canem Edit (Bully), Family Guy: The Video Game, and GTA: San Andreas.

But, with a working controller, there are many other games I'd really like to play from my current collection I've gathered.

I'll be asking for a lift down to Aimee's place after work on Saturday, so I can bring the console, games, and guitar with me so me and Aimee can have a bit of a games night, which should be fun, as it's been a long time since the last time we've played anything together.

My music taste has definitely been defined by Guitar Hero, the SmackDown vs Raw series, Need for speed Most wanted and Gta San Andreas radio

Some great soundtracks on those games, especially San Andreas. I mean, all of the GTA games have great soundtracks, but that one in particular comes to mind instantly when thinking of them.

I may have mentioned that I've not played any of the 'band' games. The nearest I come is following the drum tab for a song on Drumeo. People tell me that the way you play the 'guitar' is nothing like a real one, but the drumming must be the same. I do have a PS2, so maybe I should look out for the game.

I actually have all those tracks in my CD collection. They are not really in my peak music period, but I like them anyway.

Oh yeah, the guitar is nothing like a real one, it kind of reminds me of the South Park episode centered around Guitar Hero, where Randy is playing a real one and being told to shut up.

Although, maybe it helps with rhythm, hitting the buttons at the right time. I actually have a game for PS4 - which I haven't played yet - called Rock Smith, or something like that. You have a special dongle you can plug your guitar into, and you can actually play and learn the real songs using your instrument. I might crack it out, and give it a whirl soon.

You can play easy, which I'm guessing is the basic rhythm, and notes, or hard, which is the actual song as it's meant to be played. It's a really good idea to be fair.

I've heard of Rocksmith and that sounds more educational. We did have some of the dance games when the kids were young. I liked with the Wii that you could actually move around to play rather than just sitting.
