A Symphony of Tongues: Week 33's Dive into Musical Multilingualism
It's no news, the thrilling performances we saw in the past week—week 33.
Artists came out in their best form, prepared and ready. I saw the best version of each artist as they put up extra efforts to adapt from their regular musical style to the new theme, which revolves around "Second Languages."
The theme was a first of its kind—one we rarely see around in the competition—and to be honest, I really commend the efforts and brainstorming ideas of the Vibes judges for coming up with a theme like this.
For the first time in a long while, I found myself immersed in the waters of foreign languages. My auditory canals were opened as though they understood a single word from the numerous lyrics attached to different beautiful yet unfamiliar languages of various artists across the globe. My eyes watched keenly, observing every bit of movement in every musical entry. I was so engrossed in languages I had little or no knowledge about. And it's all because I had no option but to listen. I observed languages in Spanish, French, German, Igbo, Yoruba, and so many more, which I can't list due to time constraints.
Perhaps this was an iconic moment to hold onto in the vibes music contest. A well crafted theme with diversity—something we all look up to in future entries or perhaps, something more mind intriguing if the inspiration comes up, who knows.
