My Actifit Report Card: January 16 2025 - Opie joins a Rock Group

I was on Pluto TV the other day scrolling through old TV shows and found The Andy Griffith Show. Even though it is very old, originally airing in the 60s, it is still on reruns to this day. And Pluto TV which I get as an app on my Roku TV has all 8 seasons.

Well I scrolled through the episode list and found one from Season 8 called Opie's Group. So Andy is the small town sheriff and he has a son named Opie who is 13 in this episode. He is asked to join a rock band with 3 other kids and he plays rhythm guitar. They name themselves The Sound Committee and get a gig at a girl's birthday party where they play a cool surf rock sounding instrumental and the kids have a blast dancing to it.

Someone put a clip of this instrumental song from the party on YouTube and here it is. Let's dance!

Opie is played by Ron Howard who also played Richie Cunningham on Happy Days about 6 years after The Andy Griffith Show ended. You can see a lot of Richie's expressions on Opie, which makes sense since it's the same actor.

The girl having the party is named either Joy or Phoebe, and she is the first girl coming into the scene from the right as the kids hit the dance floor. She has a short scene with Opie after this clip, and I knew she looked familiar. Turns out it is Kay Lenz who went on to star in some movies including Breezy which she was in about 5 years later. Turns out that Kay married David Cassidy who was in another popular TV show in the mid 70s called The Partridge Family. He played older brother Keith Partridge and was quite the teen idol at the time.

My Activity

today was a lot of daily random movement as I was feeling tired and wanted to keep moving so I wouldn't take a nap which tends to throw off my sleep schedule.

I also took a fairly long walk at night. Again it was cold out but I only wore the white hoodie which was a mistake because it wasn't cutting it. But being cold motivated me to walk faster which did warm me up.
