My Actifit Report Card: November 19 2024 - Emily Linge, and Three Tune Tuesday

Today I saw Emily Linge is out with anew YouTube music video of an oldie from the British Invasion days of the mid 1960s. Her video has nearly 8K views already.

The song is Ferry Cross the Mercy by Gerry and the Pacemakers. They were a part of the Mercybeat sound coming along with the Beatles in the flood of British bands taking over the world in those days.

People around every corner
They seem to smile and say
We don't care what your name is boy
We'll never turn you away

Emily has such a sweet sound and I'm glad she picked a warm friendly inviting song to cover, in these trying times when we all need to come together and love one another.

The Original

Might as well make this post a #threetunetuesday and add in the original song from 1964 by Gerry and the Pacemakers. Here is a Live video of them playing and singing the song. Most of the playing is covered by orchestral music but you can kind of hear the guitars in the background I guess.

First Song by the Pacemakers

A year earlier, Gerry and the Pacemakers had a big hit with How Do You Do It. Apparently the song was written for the Beatles and was to be their first single. Both bands were managed by Brian Epstein and he had both bands record it. But the Beatles changed it up a bit and this song was given to the Pacemakers while the Beatles released Love Me Do.

I hope you enjoyed the oldies and Emily's sweet cover of one of them.

My Activity

today was some bit of random daily motions followed by my nightly walk. It was cloudy out, so no moon sightings. I didn't go as far as I do sometimes, so my number is just 6K.
