My Actifit Report Card: April 13 2024 - Better Off On The Moon

When I walked tonight I saw the almost half moon in the clear night sky. I wondered, would people be better off living there? It's not some far off sci-fi idea any more. There could easily be people living on a moon base in a decade. Tech is accelerating, things are happening faster than many expected.

Conflicts

But would we be better off there? Or would we have the same conflicts that we have here? Seems like in any group of people there are enough differences such that warring groups would self-organize simply as an emergent property of our social and tribal brains.

So I maybe would be better off going to the moon alone, by myself. Just me and my thoughts. I could still program and write and do a lot of what I currently do. With no other folks around to bother me!

Hmm, not so fast. I'm pretty good at warring with, and bothering myself on occasion! I don't need anyone else to say things to me or do things to me. I say and do them myself. I have gotten good at recognizing it, most of the time. I am self-aware to some degree, and I can step back and listen to myself talk to myself in a detached way. Then I can decide if I want to work on changing some of the things I do and say to myself.

So there will always be conflict. If we're smart, we work to find a way to avoid or work through conflict for the good of all parties involved, even if we are the sole party.

Fly Around the Universe in Fireball XL5!

I'm ready for space travel. I won't be first in line. I'm not that much of a risk taking pioneer. But I'll go, once it becomes adopted. Like with crypto, I wasn't the bleeding first edge of adoption but I got in before most people.

Many decades ago there was some sort of electo-mechanical puppet Supermarionation TV show called Fireball XL5. It has a cool theme song, and here it is!

I wish I was a space man.
The fastest guy alive.
I'd fly you round the universe,

Way out in space together,
Compass of the sky,

My Activity

today was less random movement than usual as I was watching the News. I did get out at night and saw the moon. And so I end where I began, with thoughts of the mon and conflict.
