Three Tunes... The third is my personal favorite.

Hello, it's three tunes day. C'mon, let's have a blast with this.

For the record, #ttt (Three Tunes Tuesday) is an ongoing initiative which is organized by @ablaze for all music lovers. Catch the full gist about that HERE.

Off the top of my head, I decided to come up with old songs that got on the trending list when they were released. This set of songs had a popularity that went far and wide. At least, that's how I rate the songs based on the popularity they got in Nigeria and I vibe to them whenever I hear them.

I'm really interested in knowing if any of the songs I will be sharing are also popular in your part of the world. So, check them out and let me know;

1. Gangnam Style by PSY.

This song became a hit all over the world and most of the people vibing to it didn't have a clue of what the song was about. Even after 11 years of this delightful banger, I still know nothing about this song. All I know is that Gangnam is a city in South Korea. This song's beat is hilarious and the dancing moves are legit.

PSY is one of the musicians who got people drawn to the brilliance of South Korea's music industry. I don't know if any BTS song became worldwide before this song by PSY. However, I will always remember the dude as the first South Korean musician that got me hooked on a Korean music video.

2. Careless Whisper by GEORGE MICHAEL.

Back when I was still interested in radio programs, this was one of the soundtracks used for a particular radio program that I fancied so much. This song brings back memories of that program and the charisma of the presenter. I remember paying #20 to have the song sent to my Mum's memory card. That was when I didn't know anything about how to download songs from the Internet. Haha.

In all honesty, this is the first time I'm paying close attention to the lyrics of the song. My younger self fell in love with the beat and the instrumentals. Lol.

3. Earth Song by MICHAEL JACKSON.

When it comes to Michael Jackson, I'm always spoilt for choice because this legend has a long list of hit songs. I had a hard time picking just one, so I decided to pick my personal favorite of his songs. Earth Song is probably not as popular as some of his other hit songs. Some elements of the song don't feel like a typical Michael Jackson song.

However, this is still the best of his songs in my book. My Dad usually played this when I was a kid and back then, I enjoyed watching the music video because it felt like watching a thrilling action movie. Lol. Dumb me! Watching this song as an adult gives a completely different feeling, especially with all the bullshit going on in the world. The best part of this song is the chorus. I'm a sucker for it.

That's where we will draw the curtain on this edition of Three Tunes Tuesday. Remember to let me know if any of these songs are popular in your part of the world.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Gangnam style was the reigning song at some point. I danced a lot to it back then. Those were the good old days.

All three were very popular in India too. I agree with you that Gangnam style made Korean pop visible across the world. Kpop did have fans across but they were niche at the time. Gangnam style success paved the way for BTS and others to start stretching westward for their fanbase. Also Gangnam is a posh suburb/part of Seoul if I am not mistaken.

I LOVE George Michael and this song. As a child just like you I loved the song for the music. I also liked the words, at least the ones I could understand , though to be fair I was just singing the words without understanding them :D

Earth song was okay for me. I think I was a bit down on MJ after Dangerous Album. And my favorite message oriented song of his is Man in the Mirror, followed by We are the World and finally Heal the World. As a result Earth Song was not in my list though it is a very good song.

Cheers from a fellow #dreemerforlife

You are very correct about Gangnam. Haha. I'm very interested in Korea and Korean culture and back when I studied about Gangnam, I noticed that Gangnam and Itaewon is the area in Korea where foreigners like to stay because it's very easy to come across people who will speak English instead of Korean. Haha.

The songs here are without memorable and you also seem to know your Music really well. Haha.

That "Heal The World" song by Michael had a lot of stars in it and it also has a very deep meaning. That song had the whole world in deep thought when it was trending.

Gangnam style was a really hit o. Hot one sef. I remember singing the song's word word for word without knowing what a single thing meant of if I was even ever correct.

I have never heard Earth Song before, but I really wonder how anybody could ever dance to such a song, having listened to it now. I mean, it is a really good song with powerful lyrics, but I know Michael didn't write it for you to dance to as a kid. LMAO

Hahah... That's the power of all these sorts of songs. That Gangam style felt like back the Awilo days. I recently found Awilo on YouTube and I was having a big laugh at my younger self who just jumbled the lyrics as if the dude was speaking Igbo 😂😂.

Earth song by M.J. is a masterpiece and the meaning became more clear as I grew older. Haha. Back then, I didn't even see it as a song that had to be danced to. The music video just felt like a thrilling Movie. I always enjoyed watching that. Now, the songs have become more meaningful to me and the music video isn't as thrilling. Just a reality check. Haha.

Now these are amazing tunes you have shared. I haven't heard the second one though. It's funny how times has changed. Those days we go out to pay someone to help us send musics to our memory card. Thanks for bringing back those memories.

Hahaha... Time really flies oooo. Back then, I was also paying for games to be installed in phones. I didn't know I could easily do it myself.

I remember when I first create an email address. I paid in a computer center and got some weird printout. Haha. Something I could easily do by myself.
