The 2-Day Health Window: The Ultimate Sanctuary for Fresh, Home-Cooked Meals

Happy Saturday Hivers!

It's the weekend once again, marking the end of another busy week. For those who work hard all week long, it is finally time to slow down, spend quality moments with family, and enjoy a nourishing, home-cooked meal.

I remember back when I was working an 8-to-5 job and living alone, cooking at home was the last thing I wanted to do after a tiring day. Since I was only feeding myself, I usually preferred eating out before heading home or just buying pre-cooked meals.

It seemed like a great setup back then because all I had to do was eat. I didn't have to stress over what to cook. In the Philippines, eateries are everywhere, especially around areas with a lot of boarding houses. Buying pre-cooked food from them is quick and so much cheaper than dining at fast-food chains or expensive restaurants.

The only disadvantage, however, is that most of the food on display isn't healthy. The dishes are often swimming in oil or packed with pork fat.

The weekend is the only time I can truly focus on eating healthy. This is when I finally get to step into the kitchen and prepare nourishing dishes like tinulang isda (fish ginger broth) packed with fresh vegetables, crisp salads, and other wholesome meals.

I love weekends, and I know you do too. It is the only time I can finally slow down, prepare, and savor healthy food without being rushed. On these two days, I am the master of my own time. I can freely go wherever I want without the heavy mental burden of office work hanging over my head. There is truly nothing better than fully recharging ourselves, physically, mentally, and spiritually, before stepping into another exhausting workweek.

At the end of the day, our weekends are so much more than just days off from work. It’s our small window of time to finally take care of our bodies and eat right after a long, busy week. Even if we can only manage to cook healthy meals for just two days, it’s still a big win for our health. So to everyone who is working hard out there, I hope you enjoy your weekend, cook something good for yourself and family, and get the rest you deserve. Happy weekend!

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!

I love listening to different life stories and I am always captivated with the beauty of nature so travel is my escape when life turns into blue. But hey, how could I forget my photography hobby? It is one of the best, so follow me as I will be featuring my experiences of the stuff that I am passionate with.
