Music Monday | The ultimate summer chill tunes

Ahhhh what a week it has been here in the Netherlands with evening long sessions of barbequeing outside and just chilling to the max. Honestly, I like silence a lot when the summer is there, and just listening to the tsjirping of the birds and the sound of people in the backyard having fun messing around with water and pools.

But when there is some music to be played in the summer. What should you then listen to? Think chill mode, think take it easy, think life is good and why not play some tunes with it there!

So what are tunes to take a good listen at at the beginning of this warm and sunny week again. Let's go!

Milky Chance - Stolen Dance

Actually a lot of my friends were playing this song back in 2013 in the wintertime, and also while we were on a skiing trip I remember that this one popped by every now and then.

But to me listening to this one really means laying in a hammock gently going back and forth driven by the wind with the sound of the palmtrees in the background, while this one pops by.

Anyone know whatever happened to this guy afterwards? Was it a one hit wonder?

OMI - Cheersleader

This song mostly has something to do with summer coming from my behalf. I remember back in the days when I was still living in the Caribbean I was on the beach with a couple of friends. One of my friends had endless internet data (which was really something there because data is expensive and also slow) and this was in the beginning of the spotify days, when we were all to cheap to register to this.

My friend said something like 'I have a nice song that suits the setting' after a couple of beers and he tried to connect with this little speaker that always would be carried along to the beach somewhere.

He tried to play this song, with the emphasis on the word tried because by him also the data was buffering and he intro of the song would start. And it would buffer....and it would start over....and it would buffer again. And again...

So when I think about this song, I think about the intro and my friend fooling around with his phone trying to get the song to play, which never entirely happened :D

Swedish House Maffia - One

This song coming also from like 2013 or 2014 was literally the one that in Holland at least made Swedish House Maffia endlessly populair. What I remember it most off was that I went to tomorrowland one edition around that time and Swedish House Maffia was not playing there but the whole world was playing their songs at the festival.

What I also remember from then was that there was a big soccer tournament, either the European championship or the World championship and the biggest sports program of the Netherlands used 'One' as a starting tune of the program, but also as background music when they were playing summaries of the matches.

And that was in like the hottest summer ever as my mind remembers it. So yeah..summer vibes on this one. Owja, tomorrowland then was also bloody hot, and there was a lot of laying around at the time...A good summer!
