The song that was needed to help me find myself in a tough time.

At times, life can feel overwhelming. During those tough moments, music often becomes a refuge for me. It’s just like a therapy, that helps me release my emotions ,lose myself in the sound, and allows me come out feeling a bit more like myself again.

I have definitely had fair share of moments in life when everything felt tough and music was just right there with me serving as my companion and providing me with the comfort I desperately needed.

There are those songs that can pull me out of my head and help me let go of my worries. Whenever I just hear the right melody, it usually sparks that fire inside me, and reminds me of my dreams as well as providing me with the urge to keep moving forward.

On a normal day, i normally find solace in those songs with deep lyrics and messages that resonate with my experiences. Sure, fast-paced songs with fast ryhtms are my go-to for fun moments but in the days when i am feeling lost and tired, it’s those not to fast songs with thoughtful lyrics and uplifting melodies that truly speak to my soul.

However, I need to be careful. Some songs can lead me down a rabbit hole of sad thoughts and it always feels like I’m just stuck in a cycle of negativity, and breaking free can be a real struggle. So, I just tend to stay away from those particular songs that would make me find myself in that such situations.

If there is one thing i have always had in this life is the fear of failure . It has always been something that as weighed heavily on me. Yes, i am aware no one enjoys facing setbacks in life, but then I tend to dwell on my failures longer than I should. I often find myself wanting to be alone, lost in a sea of thoughts telling me I’m just not enough, and that everything I touch seems to always go wrong. The emotional toll can be quite exhausting, and it usually takes a lot of time and effort for me to pull myself back up.

One of the toughest moments in my life, I would say came during my first year in the university. I failed a course, and that was a hard pill to swallow. I didn't even know how to react to that at first and it wasn't just easy to pass that sad news to my mum who tried her best to fund my education at an higher level.

Moreover, just starting life in the university and facing that kind of setback felt embarrassing and painful. It was just like being thrown into the deep end when I could barely swim. I eventually had to carry the course over and retake the exam the following year with those in my previous class which was actually quite overwhelming.

In that moment, the song I needed most was "Unstoppable" by Sia.

The powerful lyrics and inspiring melody resonated with me deeply. Listening to that song became a source of strength, that reminds me that even in tough times, I had the resilience to keep moving forward.

It was not just a song to me, it was more like an anthem whispering, “You can do this.” The more I listened, the more I felt empowered to rise above my challenges.

This song became my mantra, a reminder that failure didn’t have to define me. It encouraged me to face my fears and keep chasing my dreams, no matter what. That song had a way of reigniting my determination and helping me believe in myself again.

Looking back, I realize how powerful music can be in lifting our spirits and guiding us through difficult times and that tough moment taught me the importance of surrounding myself with melodies that inspire me and as I continue on this journey called life, I’ll always cherish the times when music was my safe haven, that reminded me that failure should never hold me back because I am indeed unstoppable.
