My view on Fireboy's "Adedamola"

When Fireboy dropped his new album, I didn’t even know what it was called, let alone make plans to listen to it. It’s funny how sometimes you can miss out on things you’d probably love if only you knew about them.

This is where social media becomes useful—bringing songs right to you, even when you’re not looking for them. It’s through little things like this that you end up vibing to music you wouldn’t usually go out of your way to find. The name of the album is "Adedamola" which is Fireboy’s real name. So from there i had this view that this album was him talking all about himself and everything that has happend to him in life which turns out i wasn't wrong.

The first song I came across on the album was “Iseoluwa.” I didn’t even find it through music recommendations, but on a comedian’s Instagram page when he used it for one of his skits. After listening to the snippet there ,it just struck a chord within me and i felt i had to listen to the full song. It’s not a track you put on to turn up or dance; it has a slower, more reflective feel to it. But then the lyrics have such a strong message that they pull you in. I basically love the fact that fireboy uses this song to honor God and express gratitude for every achievement, every step forward in his life. It’s not flashy or in-your-face—it’s humble, almost like a quiet prayer of thanks. If you listen closely, the words are powerful and easy to relate to if you’ve ever felt that sense of being guided or blessed in some way.

After “Iseoluwa,” I came across another song from the album—“Back and Forth.” Now, this one’s more for the lovers or anyone who knows what it’s like to be wrapped up in those emotions. Fireboy has a way with melody, and he didn’t hold back here; the song just flows, pulling you in with every line. Plus, he features the legendary Lagbaja on this track, which took it to a whole new level. Having Lagbaja in the mix brings this rich, old-school vibr that somehow fits perfectly with Fireboy’s style. Their voice blended well and it was like a perfect fusion of old and new, and it makes the song stand out even more.

Of course, I couldn’t stop there—I needed something upbeat, something to bring a little energy and more vibe. That’s when I found “Obas Sima.” At first, I didn’t love it. It was catchy but just didn’t hit right. But the more I listened, the more it got under my skin in the best way. Soon, my roommates and I were putting it on repeat, letting the rhythm take over as we danced in the room. There’s something about it that just makes you want to move, like it’s impossible to sit still once it starts playing. It’s upbeat and infectious—the kind of track that lifts your mood and gets everyone up and dancing without a second thought.

But the real surprise came with “Hell and Back.” I hadn’t planned on listening to it, but I’m so glad I did. This song feels so real, like Fireboy is sharing a raw piece of himself. “Hell and Back” is like a story of resilience, a reminder that no matter how hard things get, there’s always a way through. The rythm is soothing and as usual his melody was top notch. Everything on the song was just phenomenal. He’s sharing his struggles, making it clear that he’s been through tough times after going through a heartbreak, yet he’s still here, still fighting. It’s not the type of song you listen to for fun; it’s one of those tracks that hits you with realness, making you reflect on your own life. It’s almost like he’s saying" Now, you want me to come back to you after putting making me go through a tough time"

Fireboy actually gave us an album packed with so much variety and depth. From the heartfelt “Iseoluwa” to the romance in “Back and Forth,” the dance vibes in “Oba Sima,” and the good vubes of “Hell and Back,” he shows every side of himself. It’s like he’s inviting us on this journey with him, sharing his highs, his lows, and everything in between. Each song has its own energy, but together they create a full experience that anyone can relate to. This album isn’t just about music; it’s about connecting with life’s moments, big and small.

The album is a huge hit. The concept of the album was something that no one saw coming at all.
