My top 5 spotify wrapped songs for the year.
As we all know, December is here, and with it comes the long-awaited Spotify Wrapped. It’s that time of the year when Spotify curates a summary of our listening habits, showcasing the songs we played the most throughout the year. Personally, my Wrapped revealed some of the music that got me through the highs and lows of 2024. Let me share my top 5 songs of the year and why they mean so much to me.
1.Higher" by Burna Boy
At the very top of my list is Higher by Burna Boy, which happens to be the only song he released this year. Honestly, I wasn’t surprised to see it there—it’s just that good. The fact that it got nominated for the Grammys was no shocker to me because this track is nothing short of a masterpiece. There’s something infectious about the song that makes me want to hit replay every single time it plays. The beat and the background vocals? Simply phenomenal. They elevate the song to another level entirely, and I think they’re what hooked me the most. The melody is unforgettable, and it’s the kind of song that you just know deserves all the awards. Funny enough, when my friend shared their Wrapped, Higher was their number-one song too. Great music just has a way of bringing us together.
2.Mentally" by Asake
The next song is Mentally by Asake, a song that introduced me to his album earlier this year. What I love most about this track is how fast-paced and energetic it is—it’s impossible to sit still when it comes on. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to dance and vibe without actually overthinking the lyrics. Even though the words didn’t particularly resonate with me, the beat more than made up for it. It’s vibrant, exciting, and just gives me good vibes every single time. This song was my go-to-music on those days when I needed an energy boost.
3.Mood" by Asake
Asake strikes again with Mood, taking the third spot on my Wrapped. Honestly, seeing it there didn’t surprise me in the slightest—because i know i played this track a lot. What sets Mood apart for me from other sonfs is the lyrics. I absolutely loved how Asake infused Spanish into the song, showing off his versatility. It gave the track a unique sound and made it stand out even more. The chorus is so catchy, and the overall vibe of the song is just pleasant. It’s one of those songs that instantly lifts my spirits.
4.Onome" by Odeal
Next up is Onome by Odeal. I stumbled upon this particular song a few months ago thanks to a post on Instagram. After hearing just a snippet, I knew I had to find the full song on Spotify. Let me tell you—it didn’t disappoint. From the lyrics to the melody, everything about this track resonated with me. It’s such a well-produced song, and the fact that it was my first time listening to a song by Odeal makes it even more special. He really outdid himself on this one, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
5.Train Wreck" by James Arthur
Finally, we have Train Wreck by James Arthur, which is the only foreign song and was a bit of a surprise on my list. I only discovered this song two months ago, so seeing it in my top 5 left me flustered. But when I thought about it, it made perfect sense—I’ve been playing it nonstop. There’s something so raw and emotional about this track that gets me every time. Each time i listen to the song the part where he said “Find hope in the hopeless” hits me right in the heart. It’s such a powerful reminder to keep pushing forward, even when life feels overwhelming. The lyrics, the melody, and the rhythm come together so beautifully that I honestly can’t find a single flaw in the song. It’s my personal anthem of resilience, and I don’t think I’ll stop listening to it anytime soon.
These five songs perfectly capture the soundtrack of my year. They’ve literally been there for me in the good times, the tough times, and everything in between. Music truly has a way of shaping our experiences, and I’m grateful for these tracks that made my 2024 so memorable. What’s on your Spotify Wrapped?
