It's hard to imagine a world without music.

Imagining a world without music feels almost unimaginable. For me, music is such a constant part of my life that picturing its absence seems like removing color from a painting. I believe without music, life would lose a key ingredient that brings vibrancy, joy, and even inspiration to everyday moments.
Personally, I listen to music almost every day. It’s there when I wake up, when I’m commuting, and even while working or studying. Music helps me focus, keeps me motivated, and instantly lifts my mood. Yesterday, for example, my friends and I were hanging out in our room, playing different Afrobeats songs. It was like flipping a switch; the energy in the room shifted completely. Everyone started dancing, singing along, and the atmosphere became lively and joyful. In those moments, I couldn’t help but think: what would life be like if we didn’t have these songs to dance or sing along to? Would we just sit in silence? I realized that music gives us not only something to listen to but something to celebrate, something to make us feel happy and together.
Beyond the fun and excitement, music is a source of inspiration for me. When I feel down, stressed, or uninspired, there are specific songs on my playlist that I turn to. I can get lost in those tunes and then i come out feeling refreshed, encouraged, and ready to take on whatever comes next. Those songs are like friends that remind me of who I am, boost my confidence, and even give me a sense of hope when things feels overwhelming. Without music, I wonder where I would find that same comfort or sense of motivation.
For many people, especially youth, music is a path to success. Countless artists around the world have used their musical talents to build careers, inspire change and even connect with others. In a world without music, those talents would remain hidden and not in use. Imagine having a beautiful voice, an ability to play an instrument, or just a natural talent of writing songs but no opportunity to use it. Without the platform music provides, those gifts would go to waste, and the world would miss out on their impact.
Asides all of that, music also plays a special role in spiritual and cultural gatherings. I have attended several chruches and i can vividly say that the moments of praise and worship are some of the most uplifting experiences. The choir’s voices, the rhythm of the instruments, and the collective singing normally create an atmosphere that goes beyond words. There’s just a shared feeling that brings people closer to each other and to their faith. Music in worship allows us to express gratitude, seek peace, and feel connected to something greater than ourselves. Removing music from these experiences would make them less engaging, and I imagine that it would feel as though something vital was missing.
Even beyond personal experience, music is part of our identity as humans. Across cultures and throughout history, music has been a means of storytelling, celebration, and communication. It has brought people together in times of both joy and sorrow, and as served as a universal language that everyone can understand. A world without music would lack this shared connection, and it’s likely that certain emotions would go unexpressed. Dance, for example, is often intertwined with music and it’s actually hard to picture people literally dancing without a beat, a melody, or even a rhythm to inspire them.
In a nutshell, i think a world without music would be a world without one of the most powerful forms of expression and work of art. Music shapes who we are, gives voice to our feelings, and fills our lives with meaning. It enhances our celebrations, supports us in our struggles, and brings us together in ways that words alone cannot.
