How hive has helped me musically.

Before I joined Hive, I never really believed there was a platform out there where someone like me could be seen or heard musically. I always felt like my voice wasn’t good enough. Even though I liked singing, I kept it to myself. I’d sing a few lines here and there, maybe sing out loud when I was alone, but I never thought I had what it takes to share that part of me publicly. I was scared of being judged or laughed at because I genuinely thought my voice wasn’t good at all.

Then Hive came into the picture.

At first, I joined Hive just to explore and see what it was about. I didn’t even plan to post anything related to music. But then I discovered music-focused communities like Vibes, and everything changed for me. For the first time, I saw people—regular people like me—sharing their music, their covers, their voices, and being appreciated for it. Some of them weren’t professional singers either, yet they had the boldness to express themselves. That gave me the push I needed.

When I made my first music post, I was nervous. I remember it was just a simple song cover—something I recorded in my room with basic tools. I didn’t expect much, maybe a like or two, but to my surprise, the response was positive. People commented, encouraged me, and gave helpful feedback. That moment was a huge confidence boost. It made me realize that singing doesn’t have to be about perfection—it’s about expression, about feeling the music, and connecting with others.

From there, it became easier. I started learning the lyrics of songs more intentionally, rehearsing them not just for myself but with the thought that others would listen. I started experimenting with different styles and genres. Before Hive, I only stuck to a few familiar songs. Now, I’ve found myself diving into genres. I never paid much attention to before—jazz, soul, and even a bit of reggae.

What’s even more beautiful is that Hive didn’t just help me sing more—it helped me appreciate music more deeply. I came across people who don’t necessarily sing but write amazing music reviews. They break down the message in songs and talk about the production, the lyrics, the instruments used, and the emotions the music carries. I’ve discovered so many new songs and artists through these reviews—songs that I probably wouldn’t have found on my own or vibed to on a normal day.

One thing I truly appreciate about Hive is how supportive the community is. It doesn’t feel like a competition. It’s more like a big family of creators who want to see each other grow. Every post feels like a conversation, not a performance to impress. That’s something rare to find on most platforms today.

So yes, Hive has helped me grow musically in more ways than I expected. It gave me a stage, but more importantly, it gave me the courage to step on that stage. It turned my quiet love for music into something I could proudly share. Honestly, there’s still so much more I want to explore and learn, and I know Hive will be a big part of that journey.
