Anticipating Wizkid's album (Morayo).
Wizkid’s upcoming album Morayo is one I’m genuinely excited about, even though I wouldn’t say i have been his die-hard fan from the beginning. I’ve actually been listening to his music for over a decade now, and one thing I’ll always say about Wizkid is that his voice has more to it that just draws you in. He’s been consistent in his craft for so long, which is impressive, especially considering how tough it can be to stay relevant in the music industry for more than 11 years. His commitment to evolving his sound and staying consistent is what makes him one of the most successful Afrobeat artists out there.
The thing is Morayo is set to release on November 22nd, and the full album isn’t out yet, but he has already dropped two tracks from it. The first one is “Piece of My Heart,” featuring American singer Brent Faiyaz. This was the initial song that gave fans a sneak peek into what Morayo might offer, and from the first time i listened to the song, I fell in love with it instantly. One of the highlights of the track for me is the blend of Wizkid’s and Brent Faiyaz’s voices, which complement each other perfectly. It’s a love-themed song, and the melody is smooth, almost hypnotic, with that mellow but impactful feel that Wizkid is known for. Even though I’ve only listened to it a few times times, it has that vibe that makes you want to play it over and over again. The production, vocals, and the overall vibe of the track are all spot-on. It feels like everyone involved in making this song put in their best effort, and the end result is nothing short of exceptional.
The second song that he’s released from Morayo is titled “Kese (Dance),” which dropped some weeks after “Piece of My Heart.” Before "kese" was officially released last week, I have been seeing snippets of the song on TikTok, where it was already creating alot of buzz even before the full version came out. At first, I’ll admit I didn't really enjoy listening to it from the short snippets I’d heard. But then, as with many songs, it grew on me over time. The sound is infectious, the rhythm makes you want to move and atleast nod your head, and before I knew it, i have been putting it on repeat through my earpods.
The lyrics in “Kese” aren’t particularly deep or have much meaning to me. But that’s part of what makes it enjoyable—it’s just a fun, danceable song that doesn’t require too much. Sometimes you just want to vibe to a track without overthinking it, and “Kese” perfectly fits that need. Wizkid’s voice, as always, is on point, and it carries that smooth and calm voice he’s known for. It’s clear that Wizkid knows how to create a vibe and how to keep his fans engaged with his unique sound.
Overall, both songs have gotten me excited about what the rest of Morayo will sound like. Wizkid has always been someone to actually look out for and he knows how to keep experimenting with new sounds. His collaborations, like the one with Brent Faiyaz, shows that he’s open to exploring different musical styles and working with artists from various backgrounds. And with “Kese,” he as proven that he can still drop an Afrobeat jam that gets people dancing, even when it’s more about the vibe than the message.
As Morayo approaches in few days time, i am looking forward to seeing if the rest of the album will continue in this same lane or if Wizkid has a few surprises in store for us. With his track record, the list of songs as well as the different artistes on the album which he posted on his Instagram page yesterday and even the quality of these first two hit songs, I have high hopes for what’s coming next. I actually think Morayo is going to be an album worth waiting for.

I'm not a huge fan of Wizkid but I think he's a really good musician and I'm also looking forward to this particular album coz the hype is too much 😂
Now, the album has been released and I just don't even see the hype around it. Most of the songs don't really make much sense to me sef.
Ouch! That means I shouldn't bother myself to download it then
Na you can still go ahead. Some songs there actually make sense
