All the Stars are closer.
There is this song that has been showing up constantly on my FYP on TikTok—All the Stars by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. At first, I kept scrolling past it, but the more I heard it, the more it started to grow on me. I have always loved SZA. Her voice is just on a different level—so smooth, so full of emotion. But Kendrick? Not really my guy. Although i once enjoyed listening to one of his song "Love". But then I’m firmly on Drake’s side, so I don’t even bother listenign to any of Kendrick’s song anymore, especially not after the whole diss track thing against my boy. But then I won’t lie, i feel like Kendrick won that battle. Five Grammys for a diss track all in one night? That’s crazy. But even with all that, I still don’t really care about him.
But here’s the thing—whenever I see that Super Bowl performance of All the Stars with SZA and Kendrick, I can’t help but be drawn in. Every single time, SZA’s voice just catches me off guard. It’s like I forget my whole "I don't listen to Kendrick" stance and just let myself enjoy the song. She makes it impossible not to.

I didn’t even realize at first that the song was connected to Black Panther. It was later that I found out it was part of the movie’s soundtrack . That hit me differently. Black Panther was a movie i enjoyed watching, and Chadwick’s passing was a huge loss. Knowing that All the Stars was part of all of that made me appreciate it even more. It’s actually not just a song, it carries meaning, emotion, and a kind of legacy.
Now, the song has been stuck in my head 24/7. I find myself singing it randomly, vibing to it even when I’m not actively playing it. It has completely taken over my Spotify playlist, and I wouldn’t even be surprised if it’s my most-played song at this point. It’s funny how things work—I started off ignoring it, but now I can’t go a day without listening to it.
I guess that’s just the power of good music. No matter how much I try to fight it, when a song is great, it’s great. And as much as I want to keep my distance from Kendrick’s music, All the Stars has managed to break through my personal bias. Of course, SZA is the main reason I keep coming back, but I won’t lie—Kendrick’s verse does add to the overall vibe. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll give one or two of his other songs a chance. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves—Drake is still my favourite guy.
