πŸͺ— Buck Rogers Clark πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ€ A Band Practice Session 🎷

I met a former restaurant employer of mine while in the USA, and was surprised to discover she's now married to a band leader/hospital chaplain.

Β  Β  Β While I was in Indiana I made some efforts to catch up with some old friends. Someone I had been hoping to catch up with was my old boss from a restaurant project in Princeton, Indiana, my boyhood hometown. Only 45km away from Princeton is Vincennes, site of my previous three posts about the Rendezvous festival held there each year.

Β  Β  Β We're still in Vincennes for this post, mostly because my hometown is just boring and there's absolutely nothing to do there. So after I saw my old boss Sarah at the festival a few days earlier, she invited me down to visit her place and hang out for a band practice session at her home.

Β  Β  Β I had never met any of the band members before, so it was quite a task just trying to remember the names of everyone. Trevor was the band leader/lead singer/accordion player, and husband of my old boss, and also the local chaplain of the hospital. Within the band there are postal delivery workers, university professors, and even someone from my hometown.

Β  Β  Β George Rogers Clark is a historical figure from this part of the USA, and he was the central figure in the Rendezvous festival I have already mentioned. The name of this band is Buck Rogers Clark, obviously a play on words of this name, but I don't know where the "Buck" comes from.

Β  Β  Β While I was there they played everything from "Careless Whisper" by George Michaels to Daft Punk's "Get Lucky." I hadn't seen any live music in a long time, so this afternoon/evening was quite refreshing. How often do you get to be up close to an accordion anyways?

Sounds like a fun event to be part of!

The name of this band is Buck Rogers Clark, obviously a play on words of this name, but I don't know where the "Buck" comes from.

I guess he's a fan of old scifi ;<)

I am no sure if they were playing with the old comic book hero's name "Buck Rogers," probably should've asked. I

I am sure they were, although I had to think of the Sci-Fi TV series first.

I thought Buck Rogers was a comic book character before my time, and with some google research it was apparently a comic book and a show.

I think someone is a Buck Rogers fan and took the opportunity to meld the names in a good pun! 😁 Love "live" music, so you were lucky to be witness to a jam session! πŸ˜ƒ

I only know the name "Buck Rogers" as a comic book character, but it also seems it would've been the name of a 70s country singer, or porn star. I can't believe I didn't ask just to be sure. Well, either way it was good to see and hear some music while back in the US.
