Hello @kemmyb. I'm so pleased that you liked my story and project. My concept of greed fit well with the characters and their quest for a fortune. One had all he needed to live a fulfilled life with his family. The other's quest for power was his downfall. I feel as though he should have been lifting others up. But that was not his nature. As you indicated, he would not have been a fitting ruler for the tribe.
The Chief was wise to test the young men to see their hearts. Only then could he determine if they were worthy. Sending a guard to watch them was a smart move on his part. Otherwise, he would not have know the truth of what happened to the other tribesmen. What a shame their fate at the hands of two greedy men.
Such is life. And greed will forever be a part of it asa long as individuals quest for overabundance and go about attempting to achieve it at the expense of others.
