Below is my entry for today's Inside My Reset Button theme. I chose to present my mixed media art project, together with a song on my Playlist whenever I need to reset.
In a fractured world filled with chards of glass, I wait for a glimpse of my heavenly home. When I think of how I'll decorate it, joy spreads throughout my soul. These thoughts help stave off the external stressors that threaten to burden me and suppress not only my daily life, but my creativity.
What helps me bounce back when I'm overwhelmed, lost, or exhausted? I grab a cup of Chamomile tea, select a book I haven't finished, and relax in my private space listening to my favorite rhythm and blues playlist. I have to admit that I'm an oldie, a senior citizen from the 60s era. So my choice of music is what one would call "old school".
As such, I've lived a long life and listened to a variety of music. I still believe that music in terms of songwriters, lyrics, and actual singers came from that era and perhaps a decade later. As my inspiration when chaos erupts, I prefer to listen to the calm of familiar voices. That's not to say that I don't enjoy other type music.
I chose the following songs by famous artists. I hope you enjoy.
The first artist needs no introduction as Aretha Franklin is simply known as "Aretha", the Queen of Soul. Her song, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is in my opinion, the ultimate rhythm and blues tune. For me, the tune reaches down deep and reminds me that I'm not alone in my situation.
Another male artist, who gained worldwide fame is now known as Rev. Al Green. During his tenure, African American signer, Al Green, was the master of love ballards in the rhythm and blues genre. However, the song I share is from the later period in his life when he devoted his life to Christ and became a minister. You can still hear the rhythm and blues undertones. His song reminds me of the ultimate promise that won't be broken.
So I listen and wait.
Creative Process:
(1) I utilized Canva, my design program, to blend the different type images below into a mixed media collage. I began with a blank, white canvas, then added layers of elements. Two of the images are from the stable diffusion program, StarryAI. I inserted the background of one of the images into the center of the diffusion reset button.
