Lost Forever / Original acoustic demo #songwritersunday

tangled v2.00_00_00_00.Still002.jpg

This is an original song I have been working on, it's about that moment in the morning right before you open your eyes and can still remember your dreams. I am undecided about wether or not it's complete, the humming part is possible a placeholder for a lyric, some kind of bridge or pre-chorus... I need to let it marinate for a bit.

Lost Forever

as we succumb
to the mornings gaze
treasures of the night
become erased
pleasures of the night
become a haze
become a haze

hum

tangled ball of thoughts
lost forever

my lids are sealed up tight
a single spark remains
free from the whisper
of these fragile chains
of these fragile chains

hum

tangled ball of thoughts
lost forever

You may notice I wrote #songwritersunday which isn't really a thing but I am always looking for original music creators on HIVE so if you want to use it maybe we can make it a thing :D

wow... I followed closely the lyrics of your song while watching and hearing you sing, I could actually assimilate a good meaning from your song. I honestly use to be a victim of this event like waking up from bed with some awesome memories of my dreams, most times they're aren't complete and it takes a very little moment for everything to become erase I don't know why they're so much in a haste to become haze.. hehehe
I really can relate to this...
Nice strumming and a beautiful voice you've got here dear @juliakponsford Its a pleasure 🙏🙌💜

It's beautiful. Your voice is beautiful too. And I love the way you stroke your strings.

I can relate to waking up and remembering the dream you had. And that's because it happens to me all the time.

Most times, I wake up and I could still remember bits and pieces of those dreams. Other times, I wake up and everything's lost..... Forever.

Thanks for sharing this. Again, it's really beautiful.

Thank you, I think this is definitely a relatable topic for all, those darn dreams always running away...

There are many famous songs that had humming or whistling as a filler and it was kept afterward. Like "Sitting On The Docks Of The Bay" by Otis Reddin!

I didn't know you composed and sang like this -- we have this in common as well, although my instrument is piano! This is a fine song ... HAUNTINGLY fine ... well done!

Thanks, I'm fairly new at this process,I just got my guitar a little over a year ago and it's so different than making electronic music which is where I started. it's easy to start a song but not so easy to finish lol, I have a lot of partially done songs.

What you have here is really good -- coming from a 30-year composer! You have something here with this song, even as it is ... keep going with it!

Do you ever post your music on hive? I realize I mostly see your art and writing content on alien art hive but just took a scroll through your blog and don't find music. I remember ages ago seeing one of your piano videos on YouTube!

I do ... getting back into it after a long time away ... this was me for Hive Open Mic last week ...

https://peakd.com/hive-105786/@deeanndmathews/hive-open-mic-136-rocka-my-soul-negro-spiritual-cover

... but my writing in 3-5 communities runs circles around my music here. When I was younger I was a more prolific composer, and I write for my community choirs quite a bit still, but the prolificity in my early middle age has definitely switched over to writing and fractal art, for now ... but like I said, I'm working my way back toward music and may do something tonight or tomorrow for this Hive music festival...

Oh cool just listened to that one and a few others on your channel, I can definitely see that sounding epic with a full choir. I hear you on being busy I want to do all the things but it's so hard haha, need more hours in the day! I was going to try to participate in open mic more but the last few topics didn't inspire me much and I have a hard time making anything complete in a week. I only managed to enter one so far 😂

My choir stuff is on that Spirituals meet gospel meet Beethoven type of level -- but, alas, epic choirs went down with the pandemic, so I bring that feeling to my open mics as much as I can! We do what we can until we can do more!

I do open mic when I feel like I connect with the prompts too ... I tend to get on a run and then see a prompt and be like, "What? ... nope," and then forget about it for a while, and then come back and get on a little run ... and so forth ... on Hive there are things I do every day and every week and every two weeks, but if it doesn't fit in there, then it will be spotty, because life keeps on happening and I am always going to choose to prioritize my "scheduled" content. Musical inspiration just doesn't fit in there ... but that's OK. It probably isn't supposed to!

Tocar y cantar a la vez es algo que no se muy bien todavía, y de verdad aplaudo a quienes lo hacen con tanta pasión y estilo. Que hermosa tu interpretación.

It definitely took me a while to do both, it's a bit like rubbing your belly and tapping your head at the same time! The advice I read is to start off make sure you can very easily play the guitar part, once it is comfortable play very slowly and add the singing, sometimes it's easier to just hum the lyrics over top so you can learn how they line up. After doing this for a while you can start trying to sing. It's a weird thing to get used to but once you do it becomes easier quickly though it depends on the song. There are some with odd rhythms I still have difficulty with.

Hi Julia hope you are fine... incredibly you are on my Youtube Mix....
Definitely Youtube has good taste... good boy 😁
So i have another chance to tell you that your song is really good... and its melody reminds me of the movie Donnie Darko.

Look it's true! 😁
