OWNING MY FIRST MUSICAL INSTRUMENT | A GIFT FOR MYSELF THIS NEW YEAR

My mom tasked me to pay in the bank, it was closed because the staff were having their christmas party , the guard said they were open half day and this afternoon was their christmas party, I asked if I’m still allowed to pay and the guard asked the teller inside and said it was okay and i’ll wait for the receipt.

while waiting i was looking at the guitar shop near the bank, i thought of hiveph having the talent show last year december 28, and i didn’t join the contest because i didn’t have any instrument with me,

I even posted in fb to ask if someone can let me borrow a guitar for a day to join a contest, but the only people who responded was my far away friends hahaha and I don’t recall a friend having a guitar here in bukidnon but I was taking my chances that day hahahah but you know it’s a joke but half meant 😉

my brother pm’ed me to remind me that his guitar was borrowed by our cousin kearney, but the last time i was at my cousins place and saw the guitar, the string adjustment was already rusty and a plier was needed to twists it, and the strings was rusty and needs to be replaced, and I didn’t wanna hassle myself by it hahaha

convo translates:
him: cousin kearney has my guitar
me: i know but it’s broken
him: broken?
me: hard to fix the strings on it, I mean the strings
him: aww
me: it’s difficult, the adjustments (he knows a plier was needed for it)

I know an instrument wasn’t part of the rules in the contest, but i wanted to be creative and i thought having a guitar would be.

the acoustic guitar colors was visually appealing, it gives out a vibe that says,

own me bitch!

I asked the person incharge of the store if how much it costs, he said it costs, around 5,800-6,000 pesos (106-110 USD) which was the normal price range, I asked if what was the last price they could give, he called the owner and asked about it, they gave me a 5,500 (101 USD) price. Tempting ~ but the only budget I have was 3,000 pesos (55 USD).

IMG20221229161115.jpg

I looked around and guitar was not the only item they are selling, they also sell basket ball, volley ball, speaker, and mic.

IMG20221229152130.jpg

the ukulele caught my attention because it was so cute and beautiful to look at, the price was perfect for my budget and i happen to know how to play it when a college friend taught me how and that was way back 2017.

IMG20221229161109.jpg

But I was still contemplating whether I should really buy it or not, I shared these pictures on Hiveph discord and i asked my friends if i should purchase, and everyone was saying i should buy it for Hive open mic

and these are the people who convinced me to buy the ukulele. I know, i love showing proof ~ I love details hahaha it makes you appreciate more if things are shown in details ~

IMG20221229160627.jpg

more ukulele placed at a corner, everything was very beautiful it’s hard to pick which one to buy since I’m no expert with the brands but i did try strumming every one of them to see which one sounded good.
IMG20221229160643.jpg

I’ve asked the seller for a bargain, and he called the owner if what was the last price for every ukelele, and i heard the owner saying,

”did you show her the beautiful bag and freebies that comes with the initer brand that costs around 2,900 pesos (53 USD) and tell her i can give it for 2,500 pesos (45 USD).”

IMG20221229163538.jpg

I mean, who would say no to freebies and a lower price right? so i bought it!

IMG20221229161102.jpg

I asked kuya to write a receipt for me ~ he was very accommodating like answering every questions.

FREEBIES

IMG20230119075107.jpg

so here are the freebies~ it has a

  • strap for the ukulele
  • capo
  • (2) two picks with a color of black and white
  • a complete string sets
  • tutorial book.

and here’s the beautiful bag of it ~

IMG_20221229_233828.jpg

I came home happy and excited and can’t wait to try the instrument, although it took sometime to recall the chords, but thank God for youtube tutorial.

The song I practiced was la vie en rose because it was the first song that made me want to own a ukulele after watching How I Met Your Mother Season 9, Episode 16. When the mother sang it ~ it became my favorite and I remember repeating that part a lot of times before.

anyways, here’s a video of me singing la vie en rose inspired by HIMYM series~

I admit i took lots of take doing this since i was still practicing which got me so tired and decided to just pick this one and don’t care if there’s a part I’m tone deaf. I plan to learn a new song after singing this one.

@sensiblecast already challenge me to sing his suggested music and I plan to learn it soon.

anyways,

I didn’t got the chance to enter the hiveph talent contest last year but i hope there’s one this year and I plan to enter ~ or not ! hahaha depends, If i want to embarass myself or not, but let’s see

that ends my blog then ~

THANK YOU FOR READING !
