9 Crimes Raw Acoustic Cover

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

I’m back, and I'm in that Damien Rice phase that pops in from time to time. This is my stripped back acoustic version of this classic song.

If your are not familiar with this, it is all about the difficulties of being in love; being with someone but loving another. Not to say that I’m in a love triangle or anything of that sort – I’m really happily married, hi loves! - but more of the love for the song and the artist who I admire very much.

The song speaks about the biblical view, or more specifically the Catholic version of the ninth commandment, on infidelity and how it is perceived by the church. In it the person deals with guilt of loving another person while in a relationship, and how emotionally taxing it is. Although it is open to interpretation, it talks about one of those tales we hear throughout the years of couples we know personally, and maybe celebrities who have fallen out of love and/or was not able to resist the temptation of committing a “crime” against their partner.

Lisa Hannigan lends her wonderful voice to this hauntingly familiar theme in human relations, which I loved very much. Her voice matches the emotion and depth of Damien Rice', especially in their back and forth followed by the beautiful harmonies.

That’s it for now. My extended cough and colds is almost over, thank God, so I hope to be able to do more covers. Thanks for dropping by and checking out this short acoustic cover of this iconic song.

Love and peace.
