Hola a todos, ahora voy a tocar Solar. Este tema me gusta porque no es de esos estándares que todo el mundo reconoce al instante, pero cuando lo empiezas a tocar ves que tiene algo bonito que conecta. No tiene letra, no cuenta una historia directa, pero igual dice mucho.

El compositor es Miles Davis, y es uno de esos temas que se volvieron parte del repertorio clásico del jazz moderno. La estructura aquí es como bastante corta, pero las progresiones armónicas tienen movimiento y te obligan a pensar mientras improvisas. No es complicada por ser rápida, porque incluso la voy a interpretar en un tiempo moderado, sino por lo que pasa dentro de los acordes.

A mí me gusta porque te da libertad, pero no total. Tienes que escuchar bien dónde estás parado, porque cualquier nota fuera de intención se siente enseguida. Es un tema que te pone a trabajar el oído y la musicalidad más que la velocidad.

En esta versión lo voy a hacer en guitarra, tratando de respetar esa idea abierta que tiene el jazz. Primero voy a tocar la melodía clara, sin adornarla mucho, y después improvisar un poco sobre la forma. La gracia está en mantener el balance, no tocar de más.
Es de esas piezas que cada vez suenan distintas, depende del momento. Espero que les guste

Hi everyone, I'm going to play "Solar" now. I like this piece because it's not one of those standards that everyone recognizes instantly, but when you start playing it, you realize it has something beautiful that connects with you. It doesn't have lyrics, it doesn't tell a direct story, but it still says a lot.

The composer is Miles Davis, and it's one of those pieces that became part of the classic repertoire of modern jazz. The structure here is quite short, but the harmonic progressions have movement and force you to think while you improvise. It's not complicated because it's fast, because I'm even going to play it at a moderate tempo, but because of what happens within the chords.

I like it because it gives you freedom, but not total freedom. You have to listen carefully to where you stand, because any off-key note is immediately noticeable. It's a piece that makes you work on your ear and musicality more than speed.

In this version, I'm going to play it on guitar, trying to respect that open idea that jazz has. First, I'm going to play the melody clearly, without embellishment, and then improvise a bit on the form. The trick is maintaining balance, not overdoing it. It's one of those pieces that sounds different every time you play it, depending on the moment. I hope you like it.
