Twale by Utymarvel: Where Culture Meets Worship

It's the end of the weekly music competition and I've been a really big fan of the entries that have been flooding in for the past one week. I want to thank @ucNgozi for drawing my attention to this platform. Never knew there was an online music competition and a community like this, I mean I literally doubted the existence of a platform up until now. The vibes community is doing a really great job, an evident one I must confess.

I came across an entry that caught my attention it's a Christian son I love so much one that catapults me to a different dimension. A song covered by @utymarvel

Utymarvel's "Twale" is an eclectic concoction of worship and culture, creating a spellbinding audio experience nestled deep into the heart of the audience. The word "Twale," derived from Nigerian Pidgin, means a powerful gesture of salute or bow of respect, an apt title for a tune filled with reverence and adoration for the Almighty creator of the universe.

From the very first note, utymarvel's's gritty vocal tones open the gates to a procession of praises, utilizing graphic metaphors for expressions of worship. The words are: "If I was an eagle, I would lift myself, spread my wings and fly," the implication being that the utmost expression of praise to God would be through every fiber of one's being . The lyrics permeate through and bind into English, Yoruba, and Pidgin, attesting to the linguistic diversity in Nigeria, which adds much texture to the song.

From a music perspective, "Twale" comes with a soft yet rather powerful arrangement, which makes sure that the lyrics capture the full attention of the listeners. The chorus, "Kabiyesi Olu orun, I have come to give you Twale," flows smoothly and moves the spirit, making it ready for a more significant communal participation in worship.

One of the favorite instances is the bridge, where the artist states, "Only a fool will look into the heavens and say there is no God," leaving the least in doubt in accepting that God is widely felt through His creations.

It's a piece that elevates our spirit while reminding us of the supremacy of the mighty king referred to as "kabiyesi" in Yoruba language.

A song that truly captures our hearts and elaborates on the supremacy of our creator.
