Festive Season Is A Time To Come Together
Open countdown to music for this week under theme of seasonal songs, when many sing along simply happy or hum a tune wishing for better days. Here in the Southern Hemisphere we sing along with you, although it is hot sticky weather, we will be outdoors celebrating too....
Family entertaining excited audience to song that would and still does ring out at this time of the year, every year. Annually someone will release a version no matter how old the song, nor how young the drummer boy.
'The Little Drummer Boy' was written by American composer Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941, most popular version with Frank Sinatra in our parents generation. It's true these types of songs never go out of style, and they are always updating with a new version.
This time of year is an exciting time and these songs make it even better.

It's great to see the youngster following in his family footsteps.
One forgets how often songs are covered by other artists making it all the more fun, each to their style.
When I clicked the Little Drummer boy clip I was thinking I didn't actually know the song and then rampapampam and I was like oh hell, that takes me back to Christmas at my folks in a really good way!
Always on home radio, stores wherever you went it was played, good memories still being upheld.
Totally, I feel daft for not recognising it by name!
