Most recognized song in South Africa, overseas games with SA playing you hear it sung in subways on trains. Miners to millionaires, everyone who lives here loves the song, it resonates with us the people.

Yes, the English have "When the Saints go Marching In", the Australians have "Waltzing Matilda", and we South Africans have "Shosholoza" as our sporting War Cry!!!
Sarie Marais I think holds deep emotional ties as well..., when we were young at school all these songs were sung regularly and enjoyed. The joy of living in a country with twelve official languages.
Ironically I grew up in Maraisburg growing up from birth to twenty-one, here is English version most definitely sung more in Afrikaans, sounds more original 🙃
