It's A Kind Of Magic
Going down the rabbit hole with magic and the theme for this week, why not let your hair down and find it again.
Xanadu the movie many did not enjoy, I found it different, it was the sound track that stole the show with Olivia Newton-John singing this 1980 musical fantasy film with "Magic" being one of the tunes. Song was written by John Farrar.

An exceptional lady who many young guys at the time were totally besotted with, posters above their beds, Oh yes the days we collected posters! Those printed off pictures of musicians or movies quite often plastered many a bedroom to parents dismay at having room redecorated. Bring all your dreams alive for you....
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, on LP Ghost in the Machine (1981), three musicians Sting (vocals, bass), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums) the trio who were one of the biggest bands during 1984 split up during the same year.

Early music I found in earlier years on LP's that appeared to have swept people away were "Roxanne" and "Message in a Bottle" during the late 1970s, bands had a tendency of going their own ways, sometimes work together again, sometimes never!
"That Old Black Magic" by Rod Stewart was written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer and was first recorded by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra in 1943.

Rod Stewart another poster boy (yup one for the gals with The Beatles, Stones, Plus more) with his gravel voice and swinging hips he most definitely had charm! I enjoy listening to him sing, never bought any LP's, this is in keeping with theme of magic in the title.
Some music magic, another week reflecting over some really big hit makers, yet seldom bought their albums, more along the lines of music on the radio driving to and from work. I do have in my collection one on each, The Police - Ghost in the Machine and Olivia Newton-John - Xanadu, obviously moved onto other music at the time, there were so many....

I loved the theme of this week's music, everything related to magic, and what music is if not magic for our minds, which takes us to other parts of our goal when listening to music
What you say is very true, and who hasn't put up a poster in their room of some of the bands of the moment.

Today the young generation would not know a poster, how we shopped to buy specific ones, music, movies, cartoons, comic books you name it each had something to put on the wall.

A historical fact: in the 70s and early 80s, listening to foreign music in Cuba was frowned upon by the government, it was considered ""Ideological diversionism" and many of the international bands of the time were banned. This caused rebellion among young people, and they listened to the records secretly... Horrible things happened because of that.

Our music back then appeared to arrive without too much problem, a little later than other countries, not played on local radio.
Where we experienced a lot of "banning" was movies, many were taken off screen within a day of going on.
Made us learn not to trust authority more than most I think, not unhealthy considering what is happening currently.

Yes, I see it the same way, the ban has dire consequences. We are going through a truly hellish period here. There is no respect for the government, and corruption is brutal.
