Groovy Moon Songs

Ambling Across East To West Soft Silvery Goddess

We watch her waxing and waning climbing up and over, cycles in seasonal change giving it a name each time it comes around. Watching in awe from below the silver light casts shadow across the ground gently eerily guiding the way without a harsh glare, enthralling each time it peeps over the horizon.

Around the time of moon mission landing race East vs West, inspired musicians once again to sing songs about possibilities bring introducing songs Everyone's Gone To The Moon - Jonathan King 1965, mostly heard on radio pop charts, you were not hip if you never listened to the "Hit Parade", the place to source new music released.

Jonathan King an independent producer named the rock band Genesis in 1967, sad to say convicted of sexually abusing boys, a sketchy past in his personal life. 1970's he produced or performed under different names having 10 top 30 singles in the UK, which most would recognize from that era. Next up most would remember R.E.M. number Man On The Moon - R.E.M., for South Africans it more likely stirs memories of Ballyhoo - Man On The Moon song slightly different in words, the 1974 formed band ran this hit in 1981, on our charts for 19 weeks.

Back to ballads with Yusuf / Cat Stevens - Moonshadow appealing to ones innerself as at young age of singing and dancing under the moonlight, knowing the freedom we enjoyed fully this is one of my favourites. The song was written and performed by Cat Stevens in 1970, later in his life converted and changed his name to Yusuf Islam in 1978. A song he explained in later years "It is a song that whatever happens to you there's always something good to look forward to." No wonder I always enjoyed the positive vibes I got from his music.

So we rounded up three songs, now something to contemplate over, moon landing or anything to do with the moon influenced many throughout the years no matter what path we walk down. Where did the MoonWalk originate, a super interesting closing note:

Dancer and singer Jeffrey Daniel was a member of the R&B group Shalamar and pioneered the dance move the backslide which, after he taught it to Michael Jackson, became known as the moonwalk. Source: which leaves me smiling as many don't know this little mystery made so popular by Michael Jackson Best MoonWalk Ever!

Yeah many of our crazy friends would attempt this in highly polished tiled food stores when finding something to quell the munchies....

Photography of this Super Moon with last couple of pics clicked out the window at 5 and 6 am this morning, too cold to go out!

Not familiar with Thin Lizzie, have heard this version with Mike Oldfield and Maggie Reilly, perhaps nostalgia grabs us in a moment of when we hear songs.

Excellent music to listen and relax.

Hello dear friend @joanstewart good day
I loved this post, you have united two very transcendental topics for people, music, a faithful companion, since there is always music for each state of mind, and the moon, a natural goddess, who I believe that there is no person who don't stop to look at it
Beautiful photographs and how many very beautiful songs you have mentioned
I take this opportunity to wish you a great day

Passion for music never leaves one, watching the moon always a highlight when no cloud cover. Moon was dynamic and totally beautiful just before going beneath the horizon here in the early hours of the morning.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day.

I am often mesmerized by the moon, it was really giving a warm glow yesterday. I love the daytime moon the most and wonder what other powers it may have.

One song about the moon is the beautiful song by Shirley Bassey, who makes me think of Jaws from the film.

Bond movies and books a big hit with my oldest brother, Shirley Bassey a lovely powerful singer, I had forgotten this completely.

Thanks for a brilliant early morning startup listening to this song again.
